Why didn't Phil like him?
Cause he's a brother from here? Dude was said to be the beat shooter in the draft and we could always use that
Shooting Guard in a PG's body. I've heard him say it was his role that limited his playmaking, but he just never showed PG skills to me. A 6'3 shooting guard with a small wingspan projects to being a poor defender pretty much by default. The question that I kept seeing was "if he's not scoring, what else can he give you" and no one had a solid answer. In terms of getting a shooter, I didn't see much of Dotson but everybody is saying he was one of the most slept on shooters in the draft. Shot a huge volume and hit 44% from three; so we did get a shooter, I'm just not sure how he projects in other areas. I assume they'll try to develop him into a three and D piece. Check this from nbadraft.net on Dotson
Dotson is the most underrated shooter in this draft. He can fire it from anywhere in any situation - curling off screens, catch-and-shoot, off the bounce. His best skill is shooting 3s off the catch. He hit 44 percent of his 3s on 7.6 attempts per game. It's hard to tell if he can contribute much else to an NBA team offensively, but if he can knock down open 3s, he'll stick in the league. If not for being 22, he might have slid into the first round.
On another note, that Jaramaz kid looks interesting. 6'5, in his clips he looks like he can handle the rock really well (low dribble and doesn't lose speed with the ball in hand) plus he looks athletic. Those are highlight reels though, so I'll wait to get a real look at him in the summer league. Apparently he's supposed to play for one of the top defensive coaches in Europe next year, so draft and stash value is there.
Add Kornet on a two-way contract (idk...he can shoot and he's 7 feet tall so there's that but kid is soft) and Nigel Hayes is on our summer league team...we may end up with a nice haul.
