Knicks looking for more players like Courtney Lee in free agency

So the good thing about the names they drop is that those guys should be relatively inexpensive, all play some defense and aren't homerun swings but safer "I know what I'm getting choices."

Simmons is the real prize to me. 27 so he has some time and he's got less NBA experience so he could have more upside than age suggests. Dude's a pretty freakish athlete and has a great motor, his offensive game is waaaay better than I expected from a guy who paid for a tryout.

Tucker gets some love because Hornacek likes him and says he's a great locker room leader. I think this team is gonna seriously need some leaders in the locker room. That said, he's older and I think he's a threat to be overpaid or at least get too many years on a contract because he's gotta be close to his final contract and will wanna get paid.

Cunningham...a player I enjoy watching but not a player I think we really need. I'd rather target younger cats in a season that I can't see being anything more than a mulligan and another good draft pick.

These are the kind of guys you have to sign in our position. You're not good enough for an upper tier free agent to make a difference. So we have to focus on building out a well rounded and balanced roster. You accrue assets, manage the cap, and see if you draft another great player, or if you end up trading those assets for one and/or signing one.

This is the reality I have been trying to prepare this thread for. It should have started last offseason, but they got thirsty again.

I'd prefer to chase some younger names even though they haven't accomplished as much. Guys that could improve with a change of scenery or just maturity, but I'm not too upset at the list. It seems like the Knicks have a list of guys they won't have to overpay which I like. Not sure how I feel about the revisiting Rubio talk...that dude played his stock up and if Minne moves him, they'll probably want more than they did at the deadline when we already couldn't complete a deal.

With wall up for the super max, does that mean it's possible the wizards don't match Porter?
