My point is D. Rose was a part of an extremely competitive structure that was able to overcome his weaknesses and play to his strengths.

Had we been constructed efficiently, I don't see how something similar couldn't happen here.

Disclaimer - please don't interpret what I'm saying as an endorsement of building around Rose. It isn't.

Rose got traded from one bad organization to another. I feel like if he goes to better a team with a more competent coach and offense he can be decent as a playmaker again. It's pretty clear that the dysfunction within the organization has some effect on the players. They look miserable af out there. I can't even be mad at Rose for playing for his contract at this point to be honest.

And Hornacek said they will be running the triangle offense again next season :mjlol: Phil Jackass yall

We tanking next season too off rip?

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh::ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

Coach Jeff Hornacek said he expects the Knicks to be running the triangle offense exclusively from the beginning of training camp next season and explained that he's unsure if the club's core of Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose and Kristaps Porzingis can make New York a playoff team unless it fully embraces the system.

"Obviously, if we go into it like we did this year -- no," Hornacek told reporters in Utah when asked if the Rose-Anthony-Porzingis trio can be playoff caliber. "If we turn around and have a different way we start, go right at however we're going to run it next year, if it's full triangle, it's possible. You never know how these things will fit. Maybe a second year is helpful for us."

Hornacek also said he made a mistake in the beginning of this season by trying to blend the triangle with a more up-tempo style of basketball, and he reiterated that personnel decisions this summer will be based on the triangle.

"Do we have the right fit of guys running the system?" Hornacek said. "If we think that we can somehow -- with a fresh start of training camp and go to it right off the bat, if that helps us and Phil [Jackson] and Steve [Mills] -- we think maybe the same guys on this team could have a different outlook on it, then we'll stay the same. If not, they'll look at other guys."

Hornacek said Wednesday that it was a mistake to try to mix the two approaches.

"We were trying to find a balance," Hornacek said. "We were trying to open the game up so the current players could run some of that stuff and still have the triangle set where we can get into some stuff.

"As it turns out, looking back, it probably wasn't the greatest thing to do, because you're not focused on one or the other. You're not getting enough of the same repetition of the same play, and they can make reads off it. It's something we have to make a decision on and just go with it."

:hhh:

SMH... Do they not hear/read the reports of opposing players telling our players that the triangle makes them easy to defend cause they know where they'll be?

But Phil is ya'll boy

Naw bruh I been wanting Phil to get ghost ever since I seen his lack of leadership.... The only problem with Phil getting bounced is that we right back to Dolan sticking his fingers in the mix again. We need Silver to do like what Bud Selig had Sandy Alderson do for the Mets; basically hire them a VP/GM to save the owners from themselves. Hire a top exec for the franchise and tell Dolan to get out the way.... :banderas:

Ehh, you know where people will be in almost every set.

Offensive sets don't work because of surprising somebody with weird positioning, they work because of movement/options that open up and get the best shots possible. The triangle isn't a trick play, it's a system to optimize spacing and openings.

I'm not even arguing they should be using it, I'm actually a bigger fan of the sets/scheme Hornacek ran in Phoenix.

i hope its not an endorsement on doing that....I'm just not sure he'd be a great #2 on a title contending team. maybe a 3rd or 4th option.
in 2017 what elite team is structured around bad perimeter defense, bad help defense, mediocre playmaking, and bad 3pt shooting. I'll wait.
the spurs, cavs (when focused) warriors all thrive in all these areas....and the second tier teams thrive off of a few of these things.
now where would a slashing guard fit in...into all of this. mind you...he's poor at driving and kicking.
I like derrick rose....but him thriving somewhere else would have to be in the most perfect of situations where all of his flaws are hidden....and thats really hard to find :pachaha:
it worked in 2011....because he had a few all defense caliber players on his team...and thibs a defensive master mind. he hid him defensively and made him serviceable.
I have no idea where his vision went. that i have no answer for.
this team as constructed is no place for derrick rose to succeed to playing at a high level...and frankly 95 percent of the league isnt.

The triangle will be the death of us. Watch Phil draft a big man to fit the system too.
aint no big man worth taking in the top 15 outside markkanen.......unless its an unbelievable reach. :francis: i dont think phil is that dumb
markkanen is basically a shorter kp thats worse at defense and rebounding (imagine that)....we need a young explosive guard or wing bad
:pachaha: whole roster is devoid of some real athletes with bounce or a first step....outside derrick

Clearly the top 3 choices would be Fultz, Ball and Jackson.

But who do you guys have ranked from 4-7? Because that's where we'll most likely end up barring a miracle.

My opinion
4. Monk (Great scorer and plays good defense, plus I trust Kentucky players more than any other system)
5. Tatum (I don't trust duke players)
6. Smith
7. Fox
