@I.V.

I'm in full agreement with I.V.

The perimeter defense was abysmal. Literally no different from last year.

Considering you have Porzingis and Noah in the paint, I really don't understand the why our perimeter defenders are not staying with their man.

Play the perimeter and if you get beat on the drive then let's hope our bigs make the defensive play. In this era, in this league, why are we allowing so many open 3s????

As always, nice work with the breakdown. The second unit that ended up on the floor at the end of the 1st quarter was ugly. Zero offense plus poor defense.

Would be interesting to see More Holiday and maybe more Kuz in the rotation, to bring some energy... But the big problems, to me, remain the same:

- This team does not defend, specifically they do not defend the perimeter.
- The second unit's offense may depend on step-back Jennings jumpers
- Joakim Noah's contract is a complete and utter disaster

I didn't expect them to beat the cavs, in cleveland, on ring night, with Undertaker in the building... but it would have been nice to keep it competitive.

I really liked seeing Rose push it out in transition and get to the rack, hopefully with a little more time on the court, he'll be finishing those.

Many thanks and agreed on all counts fam, the perimeter defense has me sweating the most. I don't see any easy fixes on the problems you note too, which is worrisome as hell;

Defensively, I'm just praying that communication will improve and they'll have better chemistry on that end. It looks like three point oriented teams are going to be scary and there are too many teams that could attack us that way in today's NBA. I don't see a personnel fix that makes sense which is bad news. Maybe try that Woodson, switch on everything, defensive plan?

Second unit, I'm praying that Kuz gets into the rotation soon because dude has been instant offense so far. It was clear as day that Jennings needed help out there and those step backs :snoop: ...pray for us if that's our go to offense. Also, Lance gotta find that jumper I never believed in to begin with, I need that dude to prove me wrong. Other than that, it'll come down to staggering the starters or some young guys developing fast.

Noah...Dude's got multiple injuries out of preseason which is terrifying. I ain't defending that one, just praying the hamstring thing is both legit and will miraculously go away with three days rest.

At this point, I think a lot of our hopes gotta fall on Hornacek coming up with some creative fixes. But the offense should be potent as Rose comes around more, so that's good news. Dude's explosiveness is real.

Same old Knicks

If you're wondering how Jeff Hornacek would change the Knicks' offensive strategy, the answer is not much after one game. The Knicks attempted 30 midrange field goals against the Cavaliers. As the Phoenix Suns' coach from the start of the 2013-14 season to Feb. 1, 2016, when he was fired, Hornacek's players attempted 30 midrange shots 10 times in 213 games (so about four times a season). In that same span, the Knicks had 74 games with at least 30 midrange shots.

The Knicks had 26 plays in which a player started and finished the possession without making a pass. On those plays, the Knicks scored 17 points on 33.3 percent shooting and committed four turnovers.

Juxtapose the efforts of the Cavaliers' and Knicks' two primary playmakers:

--James and Kyrie Irving combined to create 35 assist opportunities, 13 of which were uncontested. Of the Cavaliers' 13 uncontested shots off of their passes, eight of them came from inside the 3-point line, with five of them within one foot of the basket.

--Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose combined to create 10 assist opportunities. Of the three uncontested shots the Knicks took off of their passes, none was inside the 3-point line, meaning Anthony or Rose did not create a single uncontested close look.

Meanwhile, Kristaps Porzingis attempted two shots off of passes from Anthony and Rose -- one from each.

Only one game, but these are some ugly numbers. :huhldup:

Those were some pressed, unfunny jokes from an internet poster desperate for attention. :yeshrug: What's not to get?
He's being defensive.

He knows he embellished the affect that the joke had on him. Now, being confronted with it, he's literally psychologically made the decision to fight anything contradicting his position.

He's going to continue to grow in anger the more you make him realize he's a follower who likely attached to the bullies in his high school and belly laughed at everything they said so he could be down.

It's sad, really. :mjlol:

This team has to realize there are just some players you don't leave. Period. In todays league you give up the 2 before the 3. A 3 is no longer a low percentage shot. I remember a sequence last night where JR's man left him (in the corner no less!!) to help on a drive. Whoever it was on the Cavs immediately kicks it to JR. I think it was BJ guarding Kyrie who then leaves him (Kyrie Gotdam Irving!) to contest JR....who promptly swings it to Kyrie who knocks down the open 3. 2 guys on 1 play left alone when that shyt shoulda been on the dry erase board before the game that that's a no-no.

My pseudo psychological assessment was part of the joke, too, breh.

I'm not a psychologist, fukk I look like seriously making a psychological diagnoses of you?

:mjlol: You're showing that you're taking it serious right now.

What do you expect coming into a Knicks thread. You're going to get roasted in any way we can.

But seriously though, my prescription is 40 mg of alprazolam per day for your anxiety and social isolation.

Check back with me in 3 weeks.
