]Laugh all yall want, once upon a time there was a place called 'the docks' and nobody went there unless you was buying packs or chopping up bodies.

Today its called DUMBO Brooklyn. Where the real estate there is worth more per square foot than any place in Manhattan not named Midtown/Park Ave.

If you got money and a decade worth of patience. Hoard property in the South Bronx.

Those parts have to be nice by default tho, u need money to have a car and a piece of land big enough to park it

U go out past the trains, home ownership shoots up which brings up quality of life. U cant be broke and have a car in NYC no way.

Whats wrong with the CBE? Isnt it hood on both sides? Plus theres plenty of neighborhoods cut in half by big highways. The Belt cut through my neighborhood growing up.

It cuts the bronx in half, basically containing all the bad stuff to one area. Fordham and Belmont are very nice areas and 5 mins away you're in new hope.

The World, but from BK
@ogc163 can u imagine if all the housing in East Harlem became private

It would be a feeding frenzy bruh. And u know RE developers will play dirty to get in on that deal.

Naw we off that. I cant be in a city like that. Thats some third world shyt my nikka.

You talking Spanish Harlem?...if so, I was out there on Saturday. Everyone out there look like they have a disease. Its like 6 or 7 blocks of straight projects. Area straight up seems like they stopped advancing after 1996.

"When the Gentrifier Is Black"

I asked three colleagues familiar with my situation their opinion. The first, a lawyer and non-profit executive, said it simply wasn’t possible. The inner city is a kind spiritual dwelling of “the black struggle.” As long as the struggle continues, and for better and worse, the inner city belongs to “the people.” Borrowing from the ‘black people can’t be racist’ rhetoric, my colleague said my racial identity alone entitled me to an informal right of return. Moreover, I was exactly what the neighborhood needed–a young, black professional. No, he said, I couldn’t possibly be a gentrifier.

I'm not sure..

I mean it's not like we are the force behind gentrification. Don't we have a right to our neighborhoods? Just because we have a little extra money or can afford to buy does that make us a gentrifier? Part of the reason we buy in "our neighborhoods" is because we want to be around our people not push them away. Most of my neighbors are lawyers and doctors but there's also people selling packs and shooting guns every night. Can't we have it both ways?

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
@Mike Ock its more like 6 or 7 acres. Too lazy to post the screen shot but if you look at Google Maps all the crosses in Spanish Harlem are projects

Its not too bad out there though... doesnt have the glamour and swag of regular Harlem but who cares.
@88m3 @ogc163 def depends who you ask. If you cant get your hood pass validated you will be deemed an enemy by a gatekeeper. My landlord in CH was a young black lawyer and the other two apts in my building had all white tenants
