Exactly

I think there was a time when it was viable for black people to buy our neighborhoods, but it prob seemed pointless, because no white person would ever move to Crown Heights or whatever in 1988. It prob seemed pointless too because a lot of places just were not safe. Why commit to living in a warzone???

Giuliani came through and crushed the buildings, NY rap died, and from there it was a wrap. We are talking about gentrification now, but really the window probably closed a long time ago. If it wasn't for the law, NYCHA facilities would probably be long gone too. A lot of that property is waterfront :merchant:

Yup. the damage been done.

That spot is right across the street from the Projects,:heh::heh: at hipsters moving in there. Now if the rent was about $400 cheaper :myman::myman:

I don't know if it's that far fetched. I haven't been back up top since October 2012, but when I was up there I went by my old hood (Bushwick Projects), and there was plenty of hipsters living near the projects. I saw hipsters jogging right by the parking lot like everything was sweet.

Low key it kind of is. One of my good friends (white Jewish kid) spent years living down the block from Marcy projects

Was he Orthodox or Hasidim, or just a regular Jew? Cause if you go down Flushing Ave. a few blocks, you will find a LOAD of Hasidic Jews. They basically run that area.

Regular. He just looked like a regular white dude. I forget where he lived exactly but it was the south side like two blocks off Myrtle. No Orthodox/Hasidim over there.

OK, I know that area... I'm leaving tonight to head back up there as a matter of fact. So I will be able to provide a better report on what I see in the old hood. I'm still getting over the fact that they put up an IHOP near Flushing and Broadway.

studio rental at Lenox Avenue, Harlem, posted by Clinton Ukwuani on 02/27/2013 | Naked Apartments i have been dying to move to Manhattan, any Harlem cats know this area? Is it good? Can i catch a cab home to this spot. I saw another deal for 935 in the same area, can i live here without problems?

good is a pretty relative thing

I'm usually in east harlem when I'm up there and it that seems fine

look out for fake apartments, and a lot of places make you jump through hoops and charge a lot for credit/background checks.

The apartment looks really really small for the price and area

I don't take cabs so I can't help you in that regard...

I see them in the daytime, at night its probably another story..

I have a hard time finding cabs where I live in Brooklyn and usually call a car service.

In a lot of cases people who work/live in London have to work/live in London.

In America this isn't so.

I don't think there is enough wealth in the world for NY to turn into London...

Is london dearer than New York?

I was surprised by the prices Of property in amsterdam, though I didn't know exactly where I was, so I might've been in the most expensive part of the city.
