MYSELF

She is a very attractive young woman. But on a more serious note I think the question is is this still a place for black Americans in New York City. The majority of my New York family have moved the other states because of the cost of living in Brooklyn. For a split-second I've been thinking about moving back to New York but I really don't think it would be a place for a black American man in 2020.

Yeah shorty is fine. As I've stated before in this thread, I think NYC is a great place if you have little to no interest in the archetypical American Dream. If you don't want kids, are not interested in homeownership, and can enter into a DINC relationship then NYC is still great.

The problem for Black millenials in the tri-state is that they often want both the city life along with the tradiontialism. Their parents and older siblings were able to somewhat comfortably obtain that while retaining the proverbial "good jobs" (city blue collar jobs that didn't require advanced degrees)to finance the lifestyle. But the comparison is flawed because wages have remain flat for those type of jobs while the cost of living has increased substantially. I have cousins who have those good jobs and their traditionalist aspirations don't make financial sense, but because there is a time lag it is not apparent to them now and won't be for quite some time.

man imma tell you

nice vid BUT shes only partially correct about a few things

firstly she goes on about how the city is unaffordable for average NYers and is a "playground" for the rich and how she doesnt want that

but then she supprts a toll to be paid by working class and poor peopel who have to drive in the city?? because lets face it - theres not ONE person who is just drivnign into NYC just because... they are driving in because they have to

and the crazy thing is if those people didnt drive in at all the only people who will be able to drive ( with less traffic now ) are RICH PEOPLE who have no problem with paying 15 bucks for a cup of coffee let alone 15 bucks to drive their car - hell it costs those same poeple 40 to 60 dollars to put their car in a lot . if they even decide to drive at all because of course they can bike and the reason they can bike is because

THEY fukkING LIVE IN NYC ???!?! of COURSE you can bike to work ...youre already a mile maybe even 3 at most from where you live to your job ....they could feasibly WALK home and be home in less than 30 minutes...

for this purpose "noone " meaning an average car or train rider

theres noone from Flatbush riding a BIKE to work
theres noone from Norwood riding a BIKE to work
theres noone from Jamaica Queens riding a BIKE to work

theres no electricians or carpenters or cleaners or masonry people or catering servicers or plumbers or HVAC workers ridging a BIKE with equipment to work ? what office worker is riding a bike from Maspeth? Cypress Hills? or Carnarsie? Wakefield? Soundview? in the winter? how about the fukking heat of Summer ....because i didnt see a lot of that at all ....ever

so these people not being "rich" and just being average people she says she supports ...how the fukk does she support making THOSE people pay a congestion price?? and extra 3 GRAND a year? fukk yes i would leave this city too....

she can ask "where has my city gone" but its gone because people like her want to make the policies of the city revolve around the needs and concerns of the elite that live in the luxury condos and shared space of apt roomates from Battery to 96 St. - they want cozy cafes and fukking avacado toast and really dont give a shyt that that comes at a price.. and are the ones making the city an empty un affordable to live but great place for selfies, tour for tourists....

I'm all for less congestion, pollution, and traffic but the answer isn't bikes and bike lanes
yeh and invariably the only real roponenets ( and the only real planners ) are those peolpe who are from Manhattan

as if the whole city was Manhttan

anyone who supports congestion pricing and say its because of the traffic and congestion on the roads i always ask well why are you limiting it to JUST manhattan

because theres PLENTY of Congestion on Flatbush Atlantic Ave or Kings Highway Fordham Road Highbridge? Jerome Ave? Bruckner Blvd is a fukking parking lot in Soundview ; theres ,Astoria Blvd, Queens Blvd and Hillside Ave and Jamaica blvd - just as bad as the traffic in Manhattan .. but invariably silence

Congestion Pricing is nothin but a fukking perk for WHITE moneyed manhattanites to be able to move freely while the rest of the city can fukk itself and breathe as much carbonmonoxide as they can soak up and get black lung so long as manhattan can get its deliveries at the last mile through the outer boros....

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
New law could unmask secret buyers of New York City real estate

A state bill signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in September may bring major changes to how the uberwealthy (or the ubersecretive) approach real estate transactions in New York City.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the bill, sponsored by State Sen. James Skoufis and Assemblymember Ken Zebrowski, is intended to keep homeowners from purchasing real estate through limited liability companies—a common practice for celebrities, the extremely rich, and those who wish to keep their transactions secret for privacy (and sometimes shady) reasons. Zebrowski told the WSJ that the bill “was designed to ensure compliance with building codes, especially in rental properties and properties with non-conforming uses such as illegal basement apartments.”

But there is one part of the bill that is raising red flags. “Every buyer’s name will be publicly available under the state’s Freedom of Information Law,” according to the WSJ.

Cue the doomsday predictions from industry insiders: “At the end of the day they are strangling New York real estate,” Donna Olshan, the owner of an eponymous brokerage who tracks luxury real estate, told the WSJ, citing the recently implemented mansion tax and changes to federal tax law, in addition to this new piece of legislation.

According to a WSJ analysis of city records, there are around 61,000 one- to four-family homes that were purchased through LLCs. It’s a practice favored by condo buyers over co-op ones, with 30 percent of all condo sales since 2008 purchased through LLCs.

Many of those are in the big and pricey buildings along Billionaires’ Row, including One57 and 220 Central Park South. But the practice has come under scrutiny for a number of reasons. Scandal-plagued buyers can purchase apartments anonymously, for example, and park ill-gotten gains in real estate.

The legislation was spurred by the uptick in LLCs purchasing real estate in the Hudson Valley, but was co-sponsored in both the Senate and Assembly by New York City legislators, including Sen. Alessandra Biaggi, Sen. Andrew Gounardes, and assemblymembers William Colton and Tremaine Wright

“Neighbors have a fundamental right to know who owns the home next-door to them,” Skouris said when the legislation was signed into law.
