Tell me about it breh I just went through the rental game.. its brutal...To where $1600 for a 1bed by the Brevoort Houses thats not run down is seen as a deal:wow:

Reading the comments in this thread from black men crying because of what the white and jewish man are doing with their property is pathetic. If you want to know why the black race is on the bottom, all you have to do is read this thread and you'll see why.

Hate white men so much but turn around and live in his properties so that he can create generational wealth for his community while neglecting yours.

Hate white men so much but turn and around and live in his properties but bytch when he decides to profit off his investment by selling or renovating in order to attract well to do tenants.

Hate white men so much but live in his neighborhoods that he originally built and when him and his family come back to live there bytch and cry that it is "your" neighborhood when you've only been there for 5 minutes and didn't buy anything to make it your own during those 5 minutes.

Is it any wonder that wherever the BM lives other races of men can come in and push him out and not think twice about it? Ya'll need some self-love then maybe you can build up strong communities that will be impregnable to gentrification.

What's yours?

The heyday of Blacks in New York ended around the 1950s. I have family that used to live up there as they were part of the great migration so they settled in Harlem in the 1920s through the 1950s, after that shyt went downhill. Most of my family is in the south and we live good down here in a well established black neighborhood. I consider anytime from the 70s on up until now to be some of the worst times. Graffiti, trash, rap music that disrespected the black race, nasty chinese carry outs that served us inferior food products, racist hispanics, ...i'm glad those white folks are pushing all of that out because that is what black people living in those areas should have did.

I agree and disagree with the bolded. Lets not act like banks were just handing out loans for these people to buy real estate and set up businesses. I do agree that for those of us that were the majority in black neigborhoods like crown heights, and flatbush adopted the renters mentatlity and simply put up with the lack of quality of life in exchange for low rents.

Now that the chickens have come home to roost, we want to complain that the neighborhoods are improving and so are those rents. Had some of us established the ownership and community mentality, as well as PRIORITIES (less babies, bytches and benzes) we wouldnt be so easily displaced.

We had the opportunities, many of us just took it for granted and blew it.

I didn't bother, breh. people like him like to oversimplify the issue greatly, then pat themselves on the back as if they're spitting knowledge.

This. I'm not even sure how one could read through the thread and conclude it's nothing but bytching. It's been a mix of commentary in here about gentrification and its effects here in NYC, much of it simply being observations. Gentrification is a bit too complex to oversimplify like @OatmealCreamPie did

So you're not even Black American. I'm speaking of matters as they pertain to the Black American community.

My family owned up there too, but they preferred to live down south so this is where we are and now own here. Not mad and not a bro.

We are in agreement. I bank at a Black owned bank. If many of us did the same we wouldn't have to depend yet again on the white man to give us loans. Asians have their own banks and utilize it there is no reason that we should not have ours and utilize it for the greater good of the community. As a group we will always be dependent on the white man if we don't support each other and pushed out of this neighborhoods when he gets tired of us tearing it down.
