a great mix of everything... greeks and general europaens on ditmars and 30th, brazilians and more bengalis/indians now on 36th ave, whites/latinos/everything on broadway, arabs on steinway

then just a short bit away koreans, irish, latinos in sunnyside/woodside

blacks mixed in but a minority for sure, there are more towards ravenswood and queensbridge a bit more out of the way, and asians mixed in a bit too

has a little bit of everything, really is beautiful. grew up knowing people of all types, race questions nonexistant

as an Astorian I'd really like to say fukk the gentrifiers, etc, but in my area I see absoultely no changes. They are making these new condo buildings with doormen and shyt waaaaay out where no one lived before. Nothing but warehouses and nothingness. A lot more "obvious white people" - not the typical ethnic white variety but the "randoms from Ohio" variety. The heart of the neighborhoods have not changed whatsoever, where it counts. Makes for interesting people watching on the street.. and more stereotypical things like sushi and coffee places, but really.. :yeshrug:

just wait till the rent raises 15% a year...

People need to own property. I bet you few owners are complaining, but the renters are scared shytless.
Its too late now. I work for the folks who own these buildings. The revenue streams :banderas: They arent gonna give that up easy

Yeah, and the sad thing is that people who still don't understand the concept of ownership and to build wealth to pass down for the next generation.

And this comment...
I joined my families Real Estate firm in 2011 after I graduated from Columbia, and Brooklyn was nice back then, so I'm obviously going based off when I actually started selling. No shyt Brooklyn wasn't always expensive/nice. Hell, I'm not even american. I was born and raised in Switzerland and even I knew how shytty Brooklyn was back in the day, my father was actually one of the major investors in the beautification of Brooklyn, and it payed off majorly well for our firm, Brooklyn, the people of Brooklyn, and of course the city of New York. The guy I responded to seemed not to know that Brooklyn nowadays is actually a very nice and pleasant place to live/buy property, a shyt ton is the only accurate way of describing the money I've made off of Brownstones alone. Also gentrification is a positive thing, it rebuilds, and removes otherwise destructive people. Why should the rich constructive people you ignorantly call "naive" live in the past? Also yeah Harlem is getting nicer, but still no where near the most expensive nor is it a hotspot for wealthy buyers, YET. I say give it 10 years or so.

So people from Switzerland are "investing in the future of brooklyn?"

The crime is out of control in the affordable areas in Jersey, most of the south has a higher quality of life than Newark, Paterson, Irvinton, etc.

And the "nice" part of Jersey City and Hoboken is just like Manhattan and Downtown BK. I wouldn't be surprised if the gentrification started to creep into the hood parts of Jersey City and the area around the JSQ PATH station, at least pretty soon. That area has quicker commutes to Manhattan than many areas in the outer boroughs so that can be appealing..
