You know I haven't heard anyone post about Bill Di Blasio, next NYC mayor, and how he may impact the current course of gentrification. He is very progressive. After almost two decades with wall street friendly republican mayors NYC will finally have another liberal. He could have a positive impact on low income New Yorkers - more affordable housing and the like.
We still have a chance brehs. Come down south brehs. Its so easy. Let those idiots up north struggle with all those crippling economic forces. Its a fool's game. You can come down south and be a homeowner on a $40K/yr income.
I figured it all out, i do design and spec work and i was talking with a GC who explained that when these areas and renovated and gentrified and the regulars are displaced it is part of the plan, the plan to build super complexes for low and median income people . I am hearing there are areas already zoned for these complexes, you don't think income is going to rise and and certain jobs to keep the people who work in retail and service related jobs in their homes because they are not. You will soon start to hear about the housing shortage for regular NYC people and this is a crisis and some politician will have a a study performed on how we can keep "real" NY alive, the solution, super complexes delivering affordable housing and jobs to the community and providing a huge windfall to the managing companies that will run them. I just found out my company is closing my branch and i will need a new job since my company has a nopolicy. I just interviewed for a new company that will do these types of projects and i was stunned at the offer i was made,
it will mean way less posting on the coli but for once i can say i make white man money for my field. If anyone has a design background, prepare to eat well in the near future.
Its too late bruh, Bloomberg locked up w/e new construction opportunities there were for the luxury market
Which pushed regular folks into the hood
And will continue pushing folks in the hood down south and to Patterson

Once Atlanta's film industry fully maturates, it's going to be a better city to live in for Blacks than NYC. More affordable and more of us.
Yeah, it's a worldwide phenomena due to the global economy. The Rich are hoarding wealth everywhere. I suspect most of it is due to all the cool public services you get in a city: subways, parks, museums, but mostly I think once shyt hits the fan and global warming really starts wiping out people, these dudes want to be exorbitantly rich enough to be protected, I guess.
Yep. Post 9/11 cleaned up a lot of shyt. At the same time, I seen die hard NYers even caving in and decide to move out the northeast.
That is true, but you really think that you can raise a family in a crowded ass city and still be functional?
They don't and i know someone who had his "artist" girlfriend apply and get one of these places on the upper westside..How do they decide who gets to live in the complexes? What would stop the fake poor super rich people from living in them? How would they know if you work in service or retail?

If you are not making six figures it makes no sense to stay
