I get that.

But when she was putting her tracks out and she had a nice variety, I was hype to hear that.

The issue with the females now is that they make the same song 182 times. Same sound, same topic, same cadences, etc. That's why we don’t see these chicks hanging around for that long. It's not exciting to keep hearing the same sh*t from the same artist. So when she dropped this project, I was on here telling everybody to go f*ck with it because her approach is wild different than what we've been seeing forever. The game really needs that.

So are the males rappers and there's room for 50leven of them :hubie:

This is when I feel old, because my Mom told me about her the other day, mom is like 70 years old.

and I was like who? DOJA CAT?! lol

I'm usually up on things to a degree, but at 39, some of this just isn't in places where I am anymore.

Thinking about this this morning, and realized a lot of this music is marketed primarily on social media, (I don't have any) which means aside from The Coli, or people who are like 30 who I fukk with, I would never hear about herm until it reaches my Mom or the NY Times

but that's a major shift from how music was marketed even 10 years ago, and for sure 20

It's not her debut and she is not a new artist. She was a generic rnb singer with a large major label backed and pushed single a few years back called "what it is". The Label rebranded her and here we are.
What It Is came out in 2023.

This came out in 2020.

When was she a generic R&B singer?

Was she on a major label when that trash came out?

When she signed to UMG they pushed that what it is record and few of her other generic rnb flops.

Her versatility is what makes her dope and unique. Outside of Doja Cat what other female rapper out right now has that ability? Most of them have one or 2 styles and they rinse and repeat the same single and content over again.
See tierra. See che.

Tierra whack is truly a breathe of fresh air. Super diverse and weird and dope and layered.

She sounds nothing like these thot rappers.

Her trajectory makes me sad, Whack is one of my favorite newer artists period but her release schedule is so inconsistent it throws people off.

She's always been on TDE tho. The Capital Records/UMG involvement is a partnership with TDE which was publically announced in 2022.

That What It Is song even seemed more like a record label move to try and get her a Top 40 hit.
At least with the Alligator mixtape, she was left to her own devices to make the music that she genuinely fukks with.

She literally rapped about exactly this on Denial Is A River but you know nikkas not actually listening to her bars :francis: even dropped the timelines:

I moved on, dropped a couple of songs
And then I went and got signed, now it's 2021

Wrist watch, drip drop, label want the TikToks
Now I'm makin' TikTok music, what thee fukk?
I need a cleanse, need a detox
But we ain't got time to stop, the charts need us (And they do)
Fast forward, me, 2023
I'm stackin' lots of cheese and makin' money
My grass is really green, and

Label wanted her makin Tik Tok music but she wasn’t really rockin with that. TDE let her do her thing on the next project. Kinda like her Section 80. I think she going to deliver one of the strongest/best hip hop debuts in decades.
