Isn't that the point of a major though, to promote your shyt?
Yes. But folks were trying to pretend she was a new artist and organic and downplay the fact they she is just a major label artist benefiting from the machine. She is a product of the label and the things I mentioned show her rise was actually not organic at all. Great marketing campaign though and they found a lane that works for her after multiple failed attempts.

Dope and creative person, great performer too, but I've always felt the same way about her as well. Just because she's not my cup of tea doesn't mean she doesn't resonate with others though.

It's so funny when nikkas talk about “industry plants” They literally are just describing a record label doing what you're paying them to do.… what's the point of signing a 360 deal if they aren't amplifying your visibility to as many people as possible? That's their responsibility…nobody gives a shyt about “organic” if you like the music you like the music...if you don't they can't force you to

You proved my point for me. Everything is a label move when your are signed to a major label. That includes the alligator "mixtape" which flopped to hell when it first dropped. But thanks to the major label machine they continued to push it and get her looks artist who flop on that level normally dont get ( SNL performances, Tiny desk performances, TV Show placements, award show performances etc., )
She is critically acclaimed, people like her and she has impactful supporters. So naturally things work out for her.

People always with this plant, Illuminati bs. Tell these other artists to work harder and smarter, be more original and socialize correct and they might get the same look. Instead they sit at home get high and cry plant :snoop:

As indie music fan, I’ve seen a lot of indie guys get the exact same looks. But as soon as it’s someone black, this bullshyt starts

Sabrina Carpenter didn't blow up until her fifth album. All of a sudden, she's touring with Taylor Swift and her songs ("Nonsense," "Feather") are getting airplay. Now, she has a Dunkin Donuts deal when a few years ago, she was still seen as a Disney singer. I haven't heard anybody call her an industry plant.

Freddie Gibbs, Vince Staples, Kendrick (2012-2016) especially, Lil Wayne, are some versatile artists. They make different type of songs, boom bap, trap, introspective, turn up, but you can tell it’s them on every song. Sounding like a different person on every song is just biting. And I have no idea whenever you bring up an artist mfs wanna tell you about how long they’ve been grinding selling CDs on the freeway and shyt. Just cause you been rapping for 10 years doesn’t mean you can’t still get a push from the industry
