Otis and I could not secure high-paying jobs.

:mjlol:

I’m just seeing this. She doesn’t say they couldn’t secure just regular jobs. But high paying? What was she possibly expecting?

Coupled with her self-confessed instagram envy, she got one thing right in this piece.

She and her husband were trying to live lives that was not intended for them.

Good info did know this. The husband will probably not get to the solvent amount. But as the link shows it also counts 401k and depends if they file together or separate as well.

Also I highly doubt this couple has only federal loans. I am sure they are also private loans. So those won't be forgiven.

I never understood the obsession with 401k. Taxable accounts taxation would be 15% at most for this income level and the freedom to touch the money prior to 59.5 yo.

I had 384,000 in loans all govt loans so its possible.

Looks like he was a research assistant and she blogged highly doubt they brought in more than 50,000 combined.

She was expecting Otis to become that weatlhy Dentist husband who takes care of her and supports her career as a struggling writer who just sits around blogs all day takes trips and kicks out babies that he has to finance....

notice how all of a sudden she starts DOUBTING HER ABILITY as a writer once he fails his DENTAL ADMISSION TEST :umad:
Life did not go as planned. Otis and I could not secure high-paying jobs. Otis accumulated $80,000 in undergraduate debt, grappled studying for the Dental Admission Test and couldn’t get the test score needed for acceptance. I doubted my ability as a writer and began to explore a career in the mental health field.

best believe this Byatch had it all "planned out" and since HE was unable to execute her "master plan" now she spends her time WRITING ABOUT HIM and his FAILURES

ain't that a byatch :heh:

i've seen this "movie" plenty of times...you get these artsty fartsy byatches looking for somebody to "finance" thier cultural dreams and aspirations when truth be told they never faced the reality of having to keep food , clothing and shelter for themselves and thier children....

i told yall....when a man isn't able to allow his WIFE to "retire" from working or live a life of luxury he is seen as a FAILURE to them....

:manny:

what really needs to happen is otis needs to be a REAL OTIS and tell his wife...

"look byatch...its quite obvious YOU WILL NEVER BE TONI MORRISION or MAYA ANGELOU..so why don't you take the kids down to COSTCO and get at least a part time job to help me with all this DEBT YOU BEEN BLAMING ME FOR!!!..and ill drop the kids off at grandma dem house till we figure out a way to overcome this situation we in right now....

and had that dude served with DIVORCE PAPERS while we were on our lunch break.....

TYRONE GA!
It doesn’t cost that much for an education even in America.

Breh needs to quit dentist school while he’s ahead, hop in the military as an officer or something and get them to pay a lot of that off for him.

someone with a brain. That is the ULTIMATE lick for someone with high student loans as a dentist/doctor.

And in the military unless you are :flabbynsick: you pretty much get everything paid for you and being an officer, you'd get even better perks.

you a jackass getting in 718k worth of debt.

Dental HPSP is VERY competitive. Highly doubt this dudes marginal DAT score would get him there.

Is it worth it for the debt? I’m asking because my degree is a regular degree, but idk if I should take on more debt.
It is if your school is good.
It’s also a lot easier to secure financial aid in the higher ranked schools depending on how much your parents make.

The financial aid packages honestly aren't bad in that realm.

So I heard law school can get you a good job even if you don’t want to be a lawyer.

Never heard what jobs those were.

You know what those jobs might be?

I never understood the obsession with 401k. Taxable accounts taxation would be 15% at most for this income level and the freedom to touch the money prior to 59.5 yo.

401k’s are about saving to have enough money that you can survive without the income you’re used to when you’re old. Most people can’t save enough to survive more than a few weeks, so putting money aside in a regular account ain’t realistic. The tax benefits and employer contributions are in place to encourage people to save for retirement. Mentioning the early withdrawal penalties as a negative means you’ve lost sight of a 401k’s purpose.
