Most Black folks, 1st gen college students have no clue of the world they are going into.

Truth, we are behind the 8 ball, but these two didn’t seem to wise up at all. Already $215k in, 2 kids and decide to talk a half mill more!!? That’s not smart and it’s not schools fault.

Not everybody can go into STEM, medical field, finance :what:

They won’t here you, it’s funny because if it was easy wouldn’t everyone do it? Wouldn’t everyone have a job in stem making good money?

Not saying that it has to be easy, but if it was a degree many could get they wouldn’t get paid as much.

I’m starting to think this is the reason why schools never focused on telling kids to go into stem majors and to really give them help in math and science.

They want kids confused and have to learn on their own that stem is a real way to make money.

Then dont go to college, it will be just a waste of time and money if you can't get into either of those fields .

Yes it’s that simple lol, but what kids really know this growing up from the hood?

All they say is you better go to college or you’ve will be broke, they don’t mention anything else and they feed you it for years.

They say any degree is better than no degree.

Many kids feel like failures for not going to college and going into trade school because of that shyt.

That's not all that much, the equivalent of a car and you get 10 years to repay it. This aint worth complaining about.

The English degree ain't even the L in this situation. Not job hunting while still in school is the L. You know damn well this bih graduated and then was like
full

Ok it's time to get serious
. Lack the confidence to go get paid:rudy:

Otis need his ass beat. If you rack up that level of debt then you clearly don't give a damn. This was early 2010s, they had internet and ability to apply for scholarships. On top of that it sounds like he was fukking around instead of putting the work in for that test. I'm starting to doubt these two's ability to walk and breathe at the same time:francis:
.

Birth control errors my ass. fukk all the way on outta here :camby:
.

After all the debt they accumulated And the expense of a kid, she decided to stop bringing in money :cosbytf:
? These people are the architects of their own misfortune.

An emotional void? Yous a stupid motherfukker goddamn... Can't have sympathy for someone who keeps asking for Ls.

He should have taken that 80 grand biology degree and got into doing lab work :snoop:
. Instead he decided to take out yet more loans and do something totally unrelated.

Nah, you did one of those things right, barely. You graduated college.

After all of the bad decision-making they deserve every bit of that debt.

Clearly it was when yall decided to keep on going back to get degrees all willy fukking nilly.

Yall can't even help yourselves. Maybe get that right first.

You sold yourself the dream and second guessed yourself out of it. You got punished for your sheer stupidity.

Alluhdis.

How did almost everybody in this thread point out all of their bad decisions but them?

Dey sum toopid muhfukkas. :heh:

Thats not what I’m implying

I’m 3 years removed from high school I seen the shyt first hand. We’d have “college experts” come in to speak to us

“It’s so much scholarship money out here for minority students :krs:

“If you spend time applying for scholarships you’ll go to school for free :ooh:

600 kids applying for a scholarship and it’s 10 spots, the odds are against you. I’m just tired of the “free school money” shyt that teens are being spoon fed
The problem is kids are lazy. One of my daughters got into college a year ago and one hoping to go next year. I keep pounding in their heads to apply for any and all scholarships no matter the size. THere may be 600 kids applying for the scholarship but there may also only be 10 applying for it. You never know so just apply anyway instead of assuming failure. Better to spend a full month in the present if need be applying for scholarships than to spend 20-30 years in the future paying off loans.

My oldest ended up going to a school that costs 48 a year and only had to take out 5 a year in loans. Would've been a hell of a lot more if she actually put in the work towards finding more scholarships but she barely tried.

Yep my auntie the same way. She worked at the post office from 18 to 50 and retired. She is 77 now been chilling with that fat pension for 27 years.

When I graduated from college she tried to talk to me about getting a government gig. I was caught up on how little they were paying. My auntie kept hounding me to not worry about that because in 2 or 3 years they would bump me up to similar pay in the private sector.

Like all young folks I was caught up in the money and went to the private sector. Not realizing the pension benefits, cheaper health benefits and job security that the government jobs provided.

Now that I am older and look back that she was right cause with the governor jobs I would have been straight with that pension and job security. Or as my auntie said work smart not hard.

Meh, most government jobs aren't enthralling. Would hate to commit to something I hate for the rest of my life.

After some self reflection I really feel bad for her. While her degree was in English she only had 25k in loans. That actually is easy to deal with.

She would’ve been better off single and just hustling.
She could have been a teacher and had them pay for her advanced education. She had a lot of options with that degree, enough to pay the debt down at least.

Decatur where its greater
I have zero sympathy for them. My wife and I have about $100k in school debt combined. I went to law school and ended up not practicing or taking the bar and still parlayed that into making $110k a year. Wife got a masters in social work and makes 80k. Them getting education or the cost of education isn’t the issue. Also, we waited until we were financially set before having kids. This shyt isn’t rocket science.
Yo bruh what does your wife do in social work? My girl in social work and I need her to get to that level.

I think part of the problem to is that people don't know their own limits. Not everybody has the smarts to be a doctor, dentist, STEM, or whatever else. And a lot of times they lack the people in their lives to tell them they need to take their ass to learn a trade instead of racking up all that debt. I have a friend now with an English degree that's working as a minimum wage line cook. Dumb as hell but her family kept pushing her to get her college degree now she's stuck with all that debt but can't get a job because nobody will hire her after talking with her.

I was lucky to leave college with only 20K in debt and that was strictly because I had a kid and used the loan money to give to my baby's momma so I didn't have to work full time. I let a bunch of full ride offers expire and luckily had a dope guidance counselor that put me on to a bunch of scholarship opportunities. He had read my essay in the application process for being an SAT scholar and just had me use that for the different scholarships.

The odds may be against you but you definitely aren't going to get any scholarships if you don't try. I took half a day out of my time every year when I went back to school to apply for scholarships and its the principal reason I didn't have to take out any loans.
