I read every message in here because while wataching the show I said the exact same thing as OP, I wanted to see opposing viewpoints to see if I was tripping but nope. Deku is a trash man character, hes just too soft to be believable, they never show him trian, its like he hasnt evolved at all. He is relying on his powers that were given to him and even thats not enough, he still needs everyones help to win..
He hasn't suffered any meaningful consequence for his recklessness outside of a stern warning.
He beat overhaul with a cheat code too:unimpressed:

Deku has no interests, no hobbies, no people he truly cares about, no principles outside of "be a good person", doesn't even demonstrate some sort of love for his mom in any meaningful way, feels some completely absurd justification for preaching to people he just met, and is insecure as fukk. He doesn't even have pride in what he's accomplished himself through bullshytting and being handed powerups that even his role model has no access to.

He's a fanboy.

He reps his childlike interpretation of what All Might stood for. He doesn't even acknowledge that All Might had to catch bodies either and work outside the lines to protect the present day peace - that he's never bothered to scrutinize even once btw.
He be doing the dumbest shyt, and noting ever happens to him, he hasnt shown any traits of a "no.1 hero, he is literary being given everything and so far he sucks at being a hero

He’s way too soft. I can’t take the constant crying and shyt.
He cries once an episode it seems like, and has no backbone.

You're a degenerate if you don't respect Deku, he's a wholesome character that embodies what it means to be a true hero

knowshon-moreno-crying-gif-1.gif

that gift describes him perfectly, a damn crybaby, thats his super power, i mean "quirk"

He doesnt constantly cry tho

Yall making shyt up
except for thats all he does,
His character is the most balanced, realistic and relatable in the series. :yeshrug:

Yes, he’s not “cool”, “badass” or “edgy” like most anime characters that casuals fawn over. But he’s a standup guy that works hard and has the qualities to be a good hero. The side characters need to be extra af, otherwise they wouldn’t stand out with their limited screen time.

Put some respek on Deku’s name.

To be the MC and the no 1 hero, i expect you to have one of those traits, or be hard working or obsessed with getting better. this dude has shown any real progress and thinks he can do whatever he wants because he has "good intentions" thats dumb..

He has no qualities to be a good hero, he justs thinks because he is obsessed with all might he knows what it takes but he hasnt shown he knows anything but how to cry and break his arms

I'm a fan of the show, but my god man you're on a roll :laff:

It is odd how Deku never asks All Might about his darkest days.
"Don't talk to this guy. His quirk activates through speech"
"Thanks for the tip man."

Not even one hour later

"You ain't shyt without that amazing quirk"
"The fukk? :pacspit:"

Deku and Bakugo fought all out in that second fight. There is no “could’ve” in that outcome. Once Midoriya saw that Bakugo wasn’t going to be talked out the fight, he was fully into it. The outcome was what it was supposed to be. At that moment Bakugo is still a little stronger than Midoriya. And the problems that they have with each other come out in that fight. Midoriya fully understands why Bakugo hates him even though it’s incorrect. Bakugo giving him advice on how to fight after their moment with Almight has moved their relationship forward tremendously. They just haven’t had a chance to show it yet because the next arc focuses on The League.

I still say midoriya could have killed him if he wanted to he held back just enough to injure that fool.... Everyone knows that... the writers be hating...

Romance in shounen is never very good but I think it would help Deku's character if his relationship with Uraraka started actually going somewhere. As many have pointed out Deku has nothing to his character outside of All Might and wanting to be a hero. Actually taking an interest in something else (in this case a girl who happens to be his classmate) might flesh him out a bit

Yusuke and Keiko is a perfect example of what I'm getting at. While their romance was never a selling point to the show it added a layer to Yusuke's character that made him more than just a deliquent who loved to fight. Deku needs something that'll show he has a life outside of the hero business (which as of now he doesn't seem to have lol)

I actually like Deku’s character. Even with all of this power he’s still the same person.

He’s still very humbled to be where he is.

All the emotional stuff he does is who Deku is; he isn’t an over confident person. He just got a quirk after feeling like shyt his whole life without having one, now he’s still the same guy, but with an overpowered quirk.

The only thing I wish he would stop, is giving bakugo all these props and make him treat him like he’s an equal now. Make him respect him as a man.
