This old but this goes for anyone
First quit drinking all sugary drinks

Water and green tea is the first steps
Also start taking smaller and less bites of food daily
Breakfast eat ten small bites of food
Lunch eat ten small bites of food
Dinner eat 20 small bites food
40 small bites of food/candy and only drinking water and green tea will help anyone lose the weight fast and healthy

Yep, I saw him at work last week.

He will never change.
410 is hard. most stuff isn't rated to carry more than a little over 200 pounds 250 tops. He's probably breaking chairs and beds at that weight. He can't even climb a ladder.

He'd probably have to get weight loss surgery to lose that weight. At 410 its gonna be too difficult to get it off and keep it off.

First part is good advice..about ditching sugary drinks.....or better yet......diluting them with water

Other advice is just not realistic. You can't expect somebody to just taking fewer bites of a meal and then just walk away from the table.

I'm fortunate to be a natural ectomorph, but I've helped people in my family lose and keep weight off. The more realistic you make the lifestyle changes..the more likely a person will permanently adapt to them.

Dilute soft drinks or other drinks with water....until you can ditch them altogether.
Once a week, walk for one hour straight...any pace

Just these 2 simple steps done for 6 months, puts person on a path where their body can now respond to regular exercise and dietary changes.

I've never helped anybody who was as far gone as the guy described in this thread, but majority of people who take the 6 month transitional steps.....have gone on to make permanent lifestyle changes and dropped the excess weight.

Yeah you are right
It’s will power
That’s what I started doing when I was 340
Now 290s
However I really have the desire to lose weight
Depends on the willpower
I’m still a teenager at home so when parents cook i take smaller and less bites and save the rest for tomorrow
But what helps is something i do daily called hourly affirmations
Every hour I mentally repeat to myself to stay discipline
But the diet isn’t for everyone

The discipline and willpower comes from regularly exercising to BURN the calories, not by starving yourself.

The good news is that you don't have to reinvent the wheel. You're not the first person to be in that position and you can learn from what others did before you.

Are your parents overweight? If so, the types of foods and the way that they are prepared are contributing to your weight and health problems.

It's not realistic that they are going to change their food preparation and eating habits, but you need to educate yourself and better options for what you eat.

Get this book, or another similar one and find healthier versions of the foods that you enjoy eating.

If you've been able to ditch the sugary drinks and replace them with water, that's really about half the battle.
Find raw vegetables that you enjoy eating, and maybe eat a few cups of them chopped up after dinner each night.

I'd also recommend that you invest in a good used exercise bike. A nice cheap one that operates quietly and supports your weight. Get it and schedule a time when you regularly& consistently do a set amount of distance or time...AT YOUR OWN PACE.

You can lose the weight and keep it off. I know you can do it. Just take realistic steps toward changing your lifestyle.

I'd say bigger than all that is track everything you eat. An app like Myfitnesspal works but everything you eat and just eat like you normally would for at least a few days to a week. From there you can make gradual changes and after the week of tracking you plan everything you eat and pre-log it. Like a food budget.

Also tracking workouts helps too. When I lost a lot of weight I used Nike+ and it logged all my walks. It used to post them on Facebook and people would see I walked x many miles today and they'd comment about it to me in person. Eventually I wanted to be consistent so I just kept doing it. I use the freerunner now so I don't use Nike+ as much but Fitbit logs it.

Tracking and logging makes things easier to manage. I'd even suggest getting a food scale.
