Hmmm lemme run some numbers

1lb fat = 3500kcal

Im gonna guess at least half of dude is fat

200lb * 3500kcal / 2000kcal/day = your homie should stop eating for a year. He will be skraight then. Just take vitamins for nutrients and drink a ton of water. Its too dangerous for him to do cardio

Obviously any strenuous workout program is not going to work, but I was thinking some light walking to start off. I am going to start off by asking him to list ALL that he is eating on a daily basis for about a week to see where things are.

Anyone ever try to help someone who was so obese get it under control and start losing weight? That Big Pun thread got me thinking about that and none in my circle are saying anything. You can get away with this shyt in your teens and 20s, but we all turned 30 now.

At that weight I would be hesitant to advise him on anything before he sees a doctor. There are a lot of small steps you can begin him on but without him having a overview of his health there should be some caution.

Yep he is a ticking time bomb. Any kind of stimulant :whoa: Anything resembling strenuous activity :whoa: I will bet his metabolism is already slow as hell too. He needs a professional to see what he can do

I think we are being a bit dramatic with this. He's 'only' 400 pounds. While he should see a doctor most people that size are going to avoid seeing a doctor at all costs. There is no reason he couldn't eat 500-1000 less then maintenance and do some light walking IF he wants to lose weight.

My friend was 340 and is down to 250 now. He shed the weight gradually over the course of about a year.

We hooped non-stop, and he was shedding pounds left and right. We'd play ball 4-5 times a week. But he was also self-motivated and changed up his diet.

:salute:for lookin out for your homie, but he has to want to help himself to see any real change.

I was thinking very simple shyt, like park on the very end of the parking lot wherever you go. drop the soda in exchange for lite iced tea or something and then go from there. I bet that's 20+ in about 2 months right there.

Liquid cals are always the simplest and quickest route for change.

Heck after he gives you a run down of his habits continue to post here and we can all brainstorm it.

I had a friend who was 400+, first thing your friend has to want is to get smaller and be dedicated to it. Then he has to get a meal plan and stick with it all the way. My friend is 285 now after about a year and some crossfit. The hardest part is going to be the discipline because you don't get to 400lbs eating healthy stuff so cutting out all that junk that was probably 100% of their diet is going to be a killer.

Can he swim? Start with joining a ymca, like water aerobics programs. Anything else will be way too strenous.
He has to go every day or at least 5 days a week.
