It's just a practice helmet.

Most teams practice with bare white helmets anyway. By the first game everyone will magically have 'earned' their lonhorns logo back

Part of being a Head Coach for any athletic team,consists of one crucial aspect that doesn't involve sports.

The ability to reign in players, and help them become men is probably the most undervalued trait a coach can have..

as a college football head coach, you're effectively a surrogate father for about 100 males who are either still teens, or just coming into adulthood... it's not only your job to make sure you make them the best football players they can be, it's also your job to mold them into the best men that they can be.

Him doing shyt like this, is an attempt to create a culture of responsibility/accountability among the players....

Football coaches have been doing this shyt for decades,and for the most part... it does work... there will always be outliers within this tactic.

everyone from the military, to biker gangs have been doing shyt like this...with the desired results

Okay, I give this dude 2 of the 3 years before all is discipline ploys backfire horribly and end up dooming him. granted these are little issues but they are the first things that come up if he doesn't win and I haven't heard anything about his coaching yet, just his character building tactics.

It's nice that Charlie wants accountability and players to brush their teeth and eat their veggies and earn every little thing but who won the National Championship? undisciplined ass FSU and they were lead by a guy that would have been kicked of Charlie Strong's Longhorns like 10 times for all of his off the field incidents. All this old school Bear Byrant ass taking away logos laying down the law means nothing if they don't win and he has already kicked off enough players to pretty much make it a lock he won't this season.

A "lock" he won't win what exactly?

None of the players that have been kicked off were real game changers like that. Even the staunchest haters of Strong aren't stupid enough to blast him for not winning with players that aren't his. He didn't recruit any of them.
