Yep. So unofficially (if it wasn't apparent to folks) the US and the Taliban are now "allies". Both parties have a vested interest in this whole Isis situation getting resolved as quickly as possible.

If it comes to fighting the Coalition/US would just kill both parties. Or provide ass for all the non-Pashto ethnic groups, that want to rebel against the Taliban, so they can kill the Taliban while the Taliban fight Isis. I could be wrong but it would take something very notable for the coalition to link with the Taliban. This could end up like Yemen or Syria (both very different situations)

state department had the "don't fukking go to afghanistan" sign up for months now and people still out on vacations and shyt

if you were in afghanistan, willingly, after bagram packed it up - you should've been on the next thing smoking out of there.... the writing has been the wall for a very long time.
That's what I'm saying. I have no sympathy for those that chose to stay. The minute they announced they were withdrawing in May I would have hopped on the first flight out of there. People got way too comfortable thinking we're going to just always be there and now we're seeing the results of that :francis:

looks like trump is coming back in 24

this combined with a future economic downturn + covid due to unvaxxed fools will be the death knell for the biden administration

If Trump won in 2020, this pullout would still be happening. And if you think this thing would have gone better on his watch, you must be smoking that good hashish that the afghans be smoking

Which is why it's hard to believe the Administration was willing to trust the Taliban with the exit. They can probably get 90% of them to fall in line, but then you have 10% that'll tell the rest of them to suck my dikk.

They essentially didn’t have a choice. This entire occupation has been a shyt show. This “pull out” is literally nine years too late for the American government to have any type of heavy handed say so in how it goes down. Obama wanted this done in 2013 and THATS when it should have happened post haste

True.

But if even ONE of those casualties is a US military member its going to get NASSSSSTYYYYYYY for the Biden administration on epic proportions. Republicans gonna bleed that shyt bone dry
Even if it is a military casualty do you know how many have been killed the last few months during the drawdown?? It's going to be in the news for a few days then everyone will move on to something else. Stop faking like most people actually care about this stuff when they're more worried about putting food on their table or some crate challenge. People haven't really cared about Afghanistan for the last 10 years.

Obama wanted to. He tried.

He didn't have the political capital to do it. Can you imagine if this happened under Obama’s presidency?

:snoop: I'm glad he didn't do it. This needed a white president's face on it.

More than likely he set the stage for it and expected Hillary to complete the withdrawal once she won

If there weren't resignations before, there will be now.

75,000 civilians died in last 20 years of Afghan war. Average of 3,000 civilians a year past decade.

Just look through this list to see how many terror attacks took place in Kabul in last 5 years: List of terrorist attacks in Kabul - Wikipedia

Why didnt anyone resign/care when any of the above happened?

None made any front page or breaking news coverage in the US. Its like US media/politicians have awoken from a coma and suddenly care about Afghanistan again, after ignoring it for 10 years.

it doesn't matter. Biden fukked up this entire process and he will be blamed.

Democrats wouldn't have a lost any votes if they decided to stay in Afghanistan..that is status quo

such an unecessary self goal

RIp, wonder if it is some separatist group opposing the Taliban

I read that the sons of the old Mujahadeen are taking up arms in the hinterlands. They won't stand a chance but if they get support from the west who knows.

But this was bound to happen the moment we left regardless. The loss of life is absurd and tragic but at some point we had to get out.
