Genre defining, you know, something eventful that everyone will remember. Changed the genre.

Hov hasn't done nothing but sell a lot of records if or over a decade.

Something eventful?

U mean like Watch the Throne
U mean like MCHG(Love it or hate it that sht was a motherfckin event)

I agree Cube is iconic but so is Nas and as far as legacy preservation look how many people argue for Nas to be on there top 10 but forget about Cube and LL. You have to think why that is. After Cube's 4th album he was just seen as the movie guy and that's where people forgot about how much of a force he was in the 90s and is impact
With Nas we saw with Life is Good that nearly 20 years on he still gets it in and hes been far more careful in recent years to preserve his legacy which is why we have so many things hes doing for Illmatic's 20th anniversary this week alone on TV

cube is on that LL and ice-t tip which is they transcended the records to hollywood and are looked at as megastars

nas music is more relevant than all of the aforementioned artists combined.

hence nas >>>>> ice cube

I mean even cubes last real buzzing record needed some vocals lent by nas (gangsta rap)

WTT came and went as the above average rap album it was. Not even leaving a dent in the game as big as say a Kendrick or even Drake's album Take Care.

MCHG is fighting for bottom 2 in Jay's discography. At least try to bring quality into the equation :mjlol:

Kanye deserves Jay-Zs spot for keeping him on life support the past decade

My four is

Eminem
Rick Ross
Kanye
2 Pac

that way fakkits, cacs, real nikkas and fat people all have equal representation... You can't have a Mt Rushmore without a fat guy because that would ruin the whole esthetic

kool herc, 2pac, BIG, Nas

my brothers list holds weight.

he said kool herc is the base, nas is still relevant and is "your favorite rappers favorite rapper" and pac and BIG are super influentual to everyone.

Top tier in relevance yet hasn't done anything genre defining since 2001-2003.

Which was the whole beef with Nas/retirement phase. And he lost to Nas.

what has any of the rappers in OP done in the last 10 years that was "Genre defining"

I'm basing this off the fact that WTT did nothing for the rap game. NOTHING.
