Rakim's greatness couldnt transcend more then 1 generation of listeners as with Melle Mel.

When you think of r&b do you think of the blues musicians who strum strummed on Banjos in the 20's friend? :rudy: I dont. Or do we think of the people whos music became timeless after reaching the pinnacle of skill and music.

The list is correct.

Those were the best artists during the best period of hip hop music. Case closed.

"Nas was a nice rapper from NY". Wow. You can't waste time talking to somebody posting shyt like that.

That's like saying Magic Johnson is this nice baller from LA.

The only other artists I can think of are Melle Mel and LL Cool J. Ice Cube is really close.

As for Nas impact/influence... every MC in NY switched they whole shyt up when Illmatic dropped.

He was influencing rappers during the best era of music.

I know Biggie's time was short, but the mania that he generated plus his classics keeps him in that top 4.

RTD was highly overrated
