That's this year.. Is this going to go on forever did Blackberry stay on top forever. I don't know you tell me.

I can only go by the numbers I have. I can't predict the future. :yeshrug: Can you?

And you can't compare BB to iOS /Android, BB refused to innovate which is akin to committing suicide in the tech world.

I can't predict the future but from the building blocks that's set right now I can only see nothing but good things for the Windows brand.

I don't work for Microsoft but by using their ecosystem and what I meant by that is using everything that is Microsoft from hardware to software to services it's starting to flow and its looking pretty scary.

Microsoft has always been known for creating islands where one service doesn't link up to another. Now you have all those islands forming into a massive continent and by using Windows Phone 7.5, 8 and Xbox I can tell you its a pretty damn good experience its cheap as well and thats what MS has going for them.

For example you can build a entire MS ecosystem for under 1000$
You can't build a Google ecosystem yet I mean you can get a Google TV but if you want the best of what Android has to offer you atleast need to spend
600 for a tablet
200 for a new phone
1000+ for a smart TV
= thats pretty expensive

If you want to build an Apple ecosystem
200 for phone
1200 for laptop
100 for TV
= its a bit cheaper but the TV doesn't offer games

If you want to build a good MS ecosystem
0$ for phone
800 for PC
100 for Xbox
= Thats 900 bucks and it gets all areas covered from Mobile, to Work to Play

Price alone is huge when it comes to in visioning the future.

A year later, Google did the same thing. And where, might I ask, was Microsoft? A month after the T-Mobile G1 was unleashed upon the world, Microsoft was unveiling Windows Mobile 6.5. It was quite possibly the world's weakest attempt to combat the rising tides of Android and iOS from any company with as much money, resources and clout as Microsoft. In fact, the introduction of iOS and Android caught Microsoft so off guard, that it wasn't until February of 2010 that we saw even the first tangible evidence that the company had a product in the same league. On the tablet side, Microsoft attempted to make itself believe that Windows 7 was its "tablet answer." Or, maybe it was that short-lived Embedded Compact 7. Either way, neither worked. No one bought into it, and the introduction of Surface makes blatantly clear that the "shove Windows 7 on a tablet and call it ideal" wasn't a real strategy. Surface is a strategy, and a thoroughly beautiful one at that. But, here's the rub: it's 2012, and Microsoft is only now getting its modern ecosystem play together.

excellent read.

An ecosystem is not just about apps. Its about everything the total package from apps to media to communication to search to navigation to maps.

Microsoft has enough to cover a a persons daily needs. Unlike Apple where their service ecosystem isn't up to par therefore they need apps. Google is second when it comes to services.

If you need 500,000 apps there's 500,000 reasons to buy an iPhone.

Exactly. Apps is what essentially turns ipads and iphones into more functional devices. The Windows Surface is a fully functional device OUT OF THE BOX. Apps can only serve to make an already amazing experience even that more impressive.

Compare a stock iPhone iOS5 vs Android ICS vs WP7.5

You will realize how much Apple depends on apps

That's a silly statement. Computers are only as good as the software they run. What good is a smartphone without an app market/store? At the end of the day apps are what make computers useful. Without software they are just useless machines.

WP7.5 OOB is not useless.

My point is MS put features built-into the OS so you don't need apps for every thing.
