This story is hella hood but I am going to play Devil's advocate for a moment. Just because she "looks" (subjective), talks, and acts like a hood rat doesn't mean she should not have reliable modes of transportation. Public transportation is for immigrants and the impoverished and should be avoided at all costs and used when needed. I don't particularly care for the types of people who ride public transit, besides the elderly. I had the luxury of acquiring and owning vehicles since age 15 and feel every household should have a car if they can afford it. If she bought a reasonably priced quality vehicle and can afford the maintenance in insurance then kudos to that sister. One should not be limited to their socio-economic status and reduced to poverty forever. Why should she catch the bus and walk, especially in shyt ass Chicago? She should have used part of that 54K towards a down payment home away from the hood. RIP Tyshawn.

Again, you don't know about her life. She may not have family elsewhere. To her, uprooting on her own may be more scary than staying there. You know nothing of her life other than a couple headlines. Post a 'Thank you' post on Facebook before even sending a dime....inform people that you will be using most of the money to take care of putting the child to rest. And what ever you have left you'll be looking at getting a USED car because you don't feel safe walking to work due to threats.
