Just as the title says, name your most overrated and underrated college majors or job professions, and why.

For me, most overrated is Psychology. That major has been over saturated with a bunch of pseudo-intellectuals who believe that they can fix people’s minds when they can’t even fix their own life. This isn’t a diss to all psychologists, but mainly to the ones who think that their opinions are gospel because of a degree.

Most underrated would be engineering and the IT field, as many of you 6 certs Coli brehs know. The field is relatively new, and possibilities are endless. There’s always a job for them, as long as you continue to accumulate certs as technology moves in different directions over time. It’s got me thinking about picking up some IT certs while I complete my degrees next year.

What are yours?
This is real life shyt. Bruh i just had this one chick i met from tinder who was a pysch major. bytch was overanalyzing everything, being way too clingy, assuming shyt up out the ass so needless to say, i blocked the bytch.

With these skills, you can get employment at just about any company, regardless of that company's profession

How many times have we heard is from Business majors? "Well, I wanna start my own business.":heh: Yeah, right...
Thank god i didnt go to college to learn about business. I can learn the shyt as i go while i start my business and not rack up some meaningless debt.

Mathematics has to be the GOAT major for its versatility alone (especially at masters and post grad level)

You could work in hedge fund/investment banking, Nasa, research scientist, Academia (lecturer/professor), chartered accountant, software engineer, statistician. The possibilities are endless:banderas:

its also from what ive seen one of the hardest majors to get...all the respect in the world for math majors...the ppl i know that have a degree in it, i know we're not fukking around in college lol

Accounting is underrated....not so much if your sole goal is to be a CPA....but because it's the language of business and most aspiring entrepreneurs lack the skill. You can throw finance in there as well. If you're the type that wants to own a business, you should be considering one of these two majors. I'd rather find help marketing my business while having a full understanding of balance sheets, income statements, depreciation, time value of money, tax loopholes, the various solvency ratios etc., than vice-versa.

Finance is the most underrated. Versatility in job prospects, good balance of qualitative and quantitative, and it helps you be more strategic with your own money (better investment strategies, understanding of risk, etc.).

Exactly. If athletes and entertainers had more knowledge of this (and a little legal training with contracts), there wouldn't be so many 30 for 30 Broke stories.

If you have a propensity for writing man, do it. It's sad that the stigma around English related degrees has stopped people who have a knack for writing from looking into stuff like Professional Writing where they can make a good living do what they like.
"Professional writing is writing for reward or as a profession, or it is any form of written communication produced in a workplace environment or context." I like writing but that sounds boring

Isn't communications the major athletes choose to be able to have enough free time to practice and fukk around? :gucci:
Don't get me wrong, communication skills can talk you a long way but you can demonstrate it at the job fair or interview. don't need a degree for it

I know a girl who graduated with a communications degree last year and she's a babysitter now. Smart girl too, was on the honor roll throughout k-12

More athletes graduate with Business degrees than communications degrees.

And that failure is on her. Schools aren't going to hold your hand, you have to network, get relevant experience with a degree in comm.

Psychology has been the most or one the most powerful and effective tools, used by whites, to destroy black minds and black self-esteem.

Ask yourself this, do we have propaganda, without psychology?

Psychology is super powerful. Once i have the control of your mind, i can make you do anything.

When are black folks going to learn that the mental war has been more painful to us, than the physical war?

"Black people are less intelligent" being constantly repeated" ---- Psychology

"Dark skin is ugly. Black features are too strong" --- Psychology

"Black people are the most violent group" ---- Psychology

"What about black on black crime" or "What about Chicago?" --- Psychology being used to justify the murders of black people.

"Look at Haiti or Zimbabwe" --- Psychology to demoralize black people, without analyzing how things got to that point

"White savior complex" --- Psychology

Ps: And my major is related to Computer and Robotic engineer.

Biology is really generic. I always tell young, aspiring pre-med/pre-dental/pre-pharmacy kids that it's a dime a dozen during application season. I know a few claasmates that graduated w/ A Biology degree, didn't get into professional school and are stuck taking stool cultures for $13.50 an hour at some hospital. It's almost the science equivalent of the psychology degree in that it's not easy finding a good job unless you get into the research side & pursue the PhD.

Information Systems (or IT) is a cool degree if you're comfortable with the fact you're expected to never stop learning. Information Systems itself tends to focus more on the managerial side of the industry and prep you for that, which is a good thing if you're thinking about management. Not only because of the course path but because a lot of places pre-screen for Bachelor degrees when it comes to top level management. Exceptions are made but I know our IT department at my hospital will take expierence and certs in place of a degree in many great paying slots but the managerial positions pre-screen for degrees, with strong preference shown towards CS. Still, IT is a great field if you're ambitious and hungry. There aren't many fields where a 20 year old college dropout w/ only a HS Diploma could self study for a few entry level certs and 8 months to a year later have an entry level job making 40 - 45k and five years from then, potentially pull in 65 - 70k if they know their shyt and network. You could do help desk and change passwords for 10 years before moving on or you could do cyber security at Ft. Rucker in 5. It's the one field that -- disregarding the effect your location has on the job prospects -- is really what you make of it.
