I hope they expand on story mode using Shang Tsung's ending. I would love for Fujin and Raiden's plan all along was to deceive Shang Tsung by allowing him to take out Kronika. Then Fujin and Raiden assemble their own suicide squad consisting of Rain, Mileena, Ermac, and Smoke or Havik. I could see Ermac being connected to that crown of souls.

Shang is gonna be so broke with the launching corpse drop. Used Warlock as the staple and removed the double enhancement on the straight fire skull and replaced it with launching corpse drop. Now he has two launchers with ground skulls and corpse drop. Damage is significantly improved and that was his only weakness arguably.

Only hope that the move isn't banned competitively.
