I think this was rushed. This shyt made me fall outta love with MK. I think they made tweaks when it was supposed to be Injustice.

Remember when it used to be dark, mysterious and scary and about a tournament in Outworld?

Now they over here saving the world in lush fields with cherry blossoms and fighting at Madam Bo’s Starbucks

It's not even the scenery that did for me. I think it works. It's that it was evident that was rushed, but what ruined it was the gameplay. This should've been MK11 with tweaks. And I should've known when Boon was talking about "well if you don't want get slaughtered in the Kombat League, there's other modes". So they basically created a game that was a love letter to high level tournament players and left nothing for people who just enjoy playing a dope fighting game. They gave us a crap mode in Invasions. Then the added Towers of Time are garbage. A cheesy version of what we got in MK11.

We got limited gear pieces and character customization.

I'm one of the few people that actually liked the story overall. I still hated the multiple timelines element. They wasted Shang Tsung and Quan Chi as boss characters. There was so much wasted potential. The trailer set Shang Tsung up for so much more, but they wasted story on him being a snake oil salesman turned mad alchemist that hardly harmed a fly except for killing Reptile's family. What happened to the ruthless, merciless, Shang Tsung from the trailer? So many unanswered question: who is Emperor Yin? Where did Tarkat come from and how did Baraka and Mileena contract it? The who, how, and why in regard to Jerrod's murder? General Shao's father is mentioned, but his name is never revealed.

And I still believe a lot of people hate this game because Onaga is not in it. I never got the hype with him. The supposed big bad got owned by Shao Kahn on at least two occassions and also by Shujinko.

This new era is ass lol. Only cool characters are Liu Kang, Sub-Zero and Reptile. Everyone else is wack as hell. MK11 was GOATed. This game was a complete downgrade.

i get hes a horror icon, but ghostface was a wasted pick. and all that "what preious mk characters are they" talk proves it. considering theyre under the same branding, they should have added sauron or diablo from primal rage to the roster

I would have liked to see Simon Phoenix in this game. Warner brothers has so many properties to choose I'm surprised they didn't choose the best of the best.

conan and mr oobleck fit much better than him though, lets be real. they could have chosen anyone for that horror movie spot this gen. pinhead, herbert west, candyman, hell even sam could have been a better pick. finding out hes the one they chose made me instantly not care

They ruined Ermac from the design to his gameplay. Why do they him summoning gigantic demons when that was never a part of his arsenal? He's a collection of souls. MK9 and MKX did a great job of incorporating those elements into his gameplay. This game made him pretty much Quan Chi 1.5. They could have given him the skin they had for him in MK11's crypt.

I don't like what they did to Noob Saibot either. His design is on the bulky side and they need fire whoever works at NRS that insists on giving pilot inspired head pieces to characters. MK11 Noob Saibot was the best version except his primary design.

They also ruined Rain. MK11 was also the best version of Rain.

They made rain a damn wizard. These designs are just sad. Like a sanitized mortal kombat with fatalities. Makes no sense. Just not enligh grit in the main cast. Even cyrax. Having her as a black woman isn't retracting me from the fact her posture is ass and robot cyrax is the better character model. These Disney ass characters don't look right doing fatalities

IIRC, it was alleged that we was suppose to get Injustice 3, but due to WB keep trying to sell off their gaming division, we ended up with MK1 instead.

I immediately changed Noob's hood when I leveled up and it makes a big difference. I also hated how they made Rain into a mage and have him carrying a staff. MK1 is an example of change for the sake of change, which usually leads to a bad outcome.

No Conan doesn't fit, and we didn't need another Arnold based character after we just had Terminator.

It's not alleged, you can clearly see that MK1 was supposed to be IJ3. The clash intros were a dead giveaway, and the art design and minimal customization is just like IJ2.

What really killed this game was the kameo system, the kameos should've been selectable fighters. Not being able to play as Sonya, Jax, and Kano then replacing them with someone like Nitara was bad.

This. The Arabic ninja look from MK11 was perfect especially the masks they gave him. His gameplay, while kind of difficult to pull off certain combos, was still dope.

His story was the weakest of everybody in this game. Maybe they didn't make him a demigod, but I agree the mage thing was lame. He could've still been prince rain. They could have made him brother to Mileena and Kitana OR added a bit of tension and made he was Kitana's fiance or husband. Cool call back to the animated series and it makes him more integral to the story.

They did Nitara dirty too. Megan Fox should not have been the voice actor. Using her likeness was dope, but the voice acting qas horrible.

Yea. I liked the 1 v 1 aspect of mk. Just getting to casual. Could just as easily had a tag team mk similar to marvel Capcom. Get your little cameos off but if they get hit they take damage to their health bar.
