Why did you guys tag and bait people to come into this thread and bring their negative energy here? Seriously.
They can't and don't last in these kinda threads. If nothing else, it's an opportunity for naysayers to see what people mean when they say "Pan Africanism" in the 21st century. I'm looking forward to similar opportunities and ventures taking form :obama:

What I'm getting at is that negative energy distracts from the topic being discussed. Skepticism or criticism is always welcome in threads. The truth defends itself after all, and we've always been able to address and counter people who have questions or doubts. Even the most ardent critic/opponent concedes when his points are refuted.

The negativity that comes into threads like this extends beyond skepticism and criticism, though. Like I've said before, some here have very limited life experiences. That might make them more likely to believe certain myths, or to take other people's takes on topics as fact. It's stuff they want to hear, and want to believe. When confronted with real life examples that challenge or shatter what they believed, it's hard for them to accept that reality.

They direct anger towards the people who shattered their views.....and woke them up from their daydreams. Nobody is more cranky than a person who was just abruptly woken up.

Coinciding with the expansion abroad, domestically the Board also authorized the University to pursue the addition of a new Master of Science in Advanced Computing degree program. Pending Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) approval, the M.S. in Advanced Computing would be the only degree of its kind offered at a Maryland university, and Morgan would be the sole HBCU in the nation to offer it. The availability of the program at Morgan would offer students a solid foundation in emerging areas of computer sciences such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, machine learning and cloud computing.

This part is the other main point of the article, and further bolsters the point about how forward thinking this president is.

Those who haven't followed the story of the Maryland HBCUs and their lawsuit against the state
https://www.thecoli.com/threads/maryland-hbcus-sue-the-state.731351/

one of the points

  • The case was initially filed in 2006 when the coalition alleged the state practiced discrimination against its HBCUs by deliberately underfunding the universities and by allowing traditional state schools to continue to create new degree programs that were duplicative of those at the historically black institutions.
By creating a degree program that's unique in MD, and unique among HBCUs, Dr. Wilson is making Morgan more marketable to all students in the state, and to Black students across the region and country (and globe).

There are lots of discussions about HBCUs and some of the challenges they face. The schools with great leadership are going to be the ones that survive.

Naw, those degrees still have value.
Journalism is dead and the only way to become an entrepreneur is by jumping yourself out there and doing it. You gonna get taught about entrepreneurship by a professor who has no real world experience in being one??

Good. Really we should have been working on this since the 60s and 70s. We need that connection back to home. Unfortunately a lot of our own still look down on Africa and the possibility of going back...
Same way the FBI was documented to have used Cointelpro to disrupt positive Black organizations, the other alphabet organizations used tactics to exploit divisions between Black people on the continent and in the diaspora.

2019 saw much of that propaganda come to the coli via youtubers. Because they were old arguments, they were easy to debunk. There's no paradise fantasy world where issues, rivalries, and conflicts don't exist, but the level of bullshyt that people bought into in 2019 was straight old school CIA propaganda.
