The thing is also that a fair amount of these 3s are terrible shots. Like you have random nobodies taking step-back contested threes with 14 on the clock lmao. Regardless of maths and statistics and whatnot, it's just a bad shot and half of the time even looks trash. Some guys will make it more than others, but it doesn't change the fact that in itself it's a bad shot.

I've always said that the Warriors were exciting because they had great ball and player movement on the court, leading to wide open threes. Only Curry and sometimes Klay were taking those hero three dribbles side step contested threes. Them other guys were all taking wide open threes that were coming off great passing, the play was already great before the actual shot. And they were always mixing it up. How many times did we see Steph and Klay fake the three and take a middie. Matter of fact the Dubs were KILLING teams with the middie when you add in Livingston, West, KD later, etc. It was always a big part of their game, which is something Houston never understood and we saw how that ended. Anyways all that to say that even the team seen as the ultimate three point team was actually heavilly based on passing and the midrange shot. It was the whole thing that made the cool to watch. Just like the 2014 Spurs, plus three point shots basically.

And like @Koli_Kat said, you have insane word athletes with all kind of height, jumps, strenghth etc who spend way too much time dribbling and dancing around the 3 point line and launching bad three pointers. Imagine if players like Kemp, Wilkins, Vince, Kobe, Griffin etc had spent the majority of their prime sitting at the three point line what a waste it would've been from a fan standpoint

This is only partly true… but at the end of the day it’s mostly a deflection to validate the current product…. Aesthetics when it comes to sports can be purely subjective… but having rules in place to make the sport very competitive is a different conversation
Everything isnt old vs new. I dont like this new shyt either :heh:. However I am able to take off the rose colored glasses and assess old shyt honestly and fairly and think beyond my bias.

What rules are you referencing?

I’m speaking on the scaling back of previous defensive rules. I think the NBA went too far.

This. MLB ratings have gone up significantly the last two years, due to installing the pitch clock, and making the number of mound visits from managers at 3 per game. Manfred has done a great job in appealing to the fans, who were complaining about the game, and it’s paid off tremendously. He also got rid of the shift, which was also prohibiting hits.

Silver should learn a thing or two from Manfred. NBA ratings have gone down the last 5 seasons, and playoffs ratings have gone down significantly as well. We now have the Emirates Cup, which should boost ratings a bit, but if I’m Silver, I’m looking at making more notable changes, such as removing the corner 3, and I might have serious discussion about shortening the regular season to 60-66 games. It’s clear at this point that most players don’t care about the regular season, and its length is unnecessary. I would also decrease the number of teams who make the playoffs.

This isn't true

What about it isn’t true? NBA Playoff Ratings in 2024 were down 12% from the previous year:

In that article, it explains how NBA Finals ratings also dove downward from the previous year. Discounting the COVID NBA Finals of 2020 & 2021, the 2024 NBA Finals were the least watched finals since 2007.

MLB regular season ratings were up 9% on FS1, and ratings in the 18-34 year old demographic were up 10-20 percent across FOX, ESPN & TBS. Attendance has risen in consecutive years for the first time since 2012, and there has also been an 8.5 % increase in ticket buyers in the 18-34 year old range:

The facts are clear. MLB pivoted toward improving the game speed, and it’s paid big dividends for them. The NBA has been either stagnant at best or has decreased in ratings. Silver has to do something to improve the quality of the game.

Celtics take 50 threes a game, bottom-10 in passes made and assists, and top-5 in Isos

Threes are up, yet the percentages are down. That means, shot selection is at an all-time low

Man fukk what ya talking about, this shyt is terrible basketball. But ya gotta keep up appearances and don't wanna feel like you're selling out the analytic brotherhood by calling the bullshyt out
What analytic brotherhood exists on here?

You named one head-and-shoulders outlier.
