He definitely lost something. I just wish we could've seen how the 2nd Tarver fight plays out if he doesn't get KO'd early. Roy genuinely looked to be back to himself in that fight. He fought that fight like he fought the 2nd Montell Griffin fight, with reckless abandon. Montell caught him with a really good shot also, but Roy just walked right through it, he was on a mission that night. I think that's how he approached the 2nd Tarver fight.

I agree with you too. But I also know his punch resistance wasn't the same. Look at the shot Tarver caught him with & look at the series of shots Ruiz caught him with below for emphasis about it from 6:00-6:10 & these were from a heavyweight:

ive said it before but the thread on sohh for roy-calzaghe was something..roy took that 12 round beating from joe calzaghe..that was when ppl really jumped off the bandwagon..nikkas were really upset at what happened in that fight

That's because boxing heads knew Cal avoided RJ till he was shot. Prime RJ stops him within 6 bro

Dudes were fooled by that Trinidad fight and how bad Calzaghe looked against B-Hop...there was also a longstanding perception that Calz was a complete domestic level fraud going into both the Hopkins & Jones fights...like Sven Ottke level fraud...Calz ain't a great fighter by any means...B+ level at best. But he ain't no damn Sven Ottke. I think he was even heavily slept on by British/European boxing fans...he was in Hatton's shadow thru half of his Super-Middleweight run, and Ottke & Michalczewski had larger fanbases and more media attention...

This is a British documentary on Roy from around 2000

Calzaghe was the best Super Middleweight in the world at the time...and wasn't even mentioned as a legitimate threat to Roy by his country's own boxing media

I posted quotes in the past from Calzaghe where he himself echoed the same sentiments :pachaha:

I remember that thread and they kept saying "DAMN ROY!" like 20 str8 posts of that same fukking line..I never watched it and wont watch it because Calzaghe didn't fight him when it would of been good.

Roy vs Calzaghe in like 2002...Roy drops him probably 5x before his corner throws in the towel. Roy's body wasn't the same after coming back from heavyweight.

Roy took peds.....

Andro (what Roy "tested positive" for in 2000) isn't an actual PED breh...do the research

It was banned by that particular state athletic commission that he fought under...but not everywhere at the time. And it was legally available over the counter in 2000...found in a bunch of different legal supplements.

Also his testosterone ratio was 6:1 in that fight...right at the legal nevada state limit. He woulda been good to go in that fight if it had've took place in Vegas.

The commission said he tested positive for Anabolic steroids not no fukking andro or ripped fuel; one has to question did his lack of roids cause his downfall, the man who was once ripped from head to toe did; gradually lose his muscle and started looking flabby

You do realize that the "anabolic steroid" that both he and Hall tested positive for was androstenedione, right? You are aware that androstenedione isn't a PED? Even though it was mis-classed as one in the early 2000's.

And he was excellent shape for all his fights when he passed all those subsequent tests after the Hall fight.

If lack of PED's were the reason for his fall off...what the hell would make him suddenly stop taking them :patrice:

Testing was no more stringent in 03/04 than it was a few years earlier...and as his ring performance is on the drastic decline he just suddenly doesn't want PED's anymore? :pachaha:

Nikka I wont even argue this foolishness; young Roy is someone you could visibily look at and sees he goes to sleep with a needle in his ass; the power, speed, size and muscles mass
