NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
A nice home theater that is capable of watching Blu-Ray movies at 4K would benefit with a 4K TV/Monitor...if you can get one for less than $500 more or about the same price as those crazy Sony/Samsung TVs...you won't do it? What brand was it that made that affordable 4K TV Seiki? I am cool rocking a Seiki or whatever brand it was...:manny:

I guess I just don't care about network TV as much as some others do...its holding us back.
I would rock a high quality 1080p TV over one of them Seiki shyts(which I was waiting for u to bring up)...cause it's NOT only about resolution...it's more complicated than that...which is why there's some TVs that look FAR better than others at the same resolution...like I said before...720p Pioneer Kuro was bodying damn near every single 1080p TV that dropped at the time picture quality wise..

Also..those tv's are 120hz and not 240hz..Sony's 120hz 4K would body that one..and their 1080p 240hz w900 I can guarantee will be smoother picture.. Deeper blacks..have higher color gamut..more picture adjustment and calibration features..etc etc...there's far more to a tv than resolution...it's also about how the TV processes different signals and how it renders resolution...and upconverts it..which I can also guarantee that Sieki sucks at...

Different strokes, I'd rather pay for the 4K TV myself

looking at the displays in the stores definitely help. you can then go back and do your research too. I'll get a 4K eventually, but until the programming catches up with it for what I'll use it for :manny:

Also..I'm not talking about content..if the content is native it's a diff story..say the same exact game.same features..same graphics.. in 720p 60fps vs 1080 60fps vs 4k 60fps is ALWAYS gonna look better the higher the resolution goes...especially at closer viewing...which is why I said if ur gaming on a PC a 4K monitor makes a difference..ur gonna get a more detailed experience..

I predict 4k will take a long time to get as common as a 1080p tv set.

It will..it may not take as long as it did for a 1080p set to be common..but it will be a while..
I think longer because 1, 720p and 1080p is fine for most people 2. A lot of people are still on dvd's 3. Most tv have a least a 5 yr shelf life if not more. Yes it will be a while I think. Hell some peeps are still on crt's for fukk sake :wow:

Basement getting finished next year so I have an opening if I need to :shaq:

....besides, 4K programming aint no where close to happening soon. TV stations still aint even broadcasting in 1080p for crying out loud. :why:

It just aint worth it for a 4K TV anytime soon. This one is going over the fireplace.
i agree but if you're dropping 2grand, i'm saying wait and throw another grand on that. get that 4k and be ready. if you were getting a 900 50 inch flatty, then i wouldnt say a word.

these networks need to at least start working on 1080p broadcasting. they need to quit the bullshyttin.
before they do that they have to talk to slo motion time warner. the bigger the picture the bigger the files being sent the slower the TV show you get. watch when they all go 1080 and us Twarner customers will start really complaining about freezes and glitches.
