An Oscar only nets you a pay increase if you stay hot (like Denzel or Leo) or only do “prestige” movies (like Daniel Day Lewis)

Monique isn’t “hot” in the mainstream anymore. Her run peaked with Precious and then Lee Daniels blackballed her. If she would’ve went on tour with her act and worked herself like say Chappelle did, where her fanbase stayed with her then she would have had leverage. How many fans have been clamoring for a Monique Special? When was her last tour? What were the box office numbers? What was her last starring movie role? What was the box office numbers?

Again she has NO leverage. Even amongst black comedians she doesn’t stand out. Even amongst black FEMALE comedians she doesn’t stand out.

There no way she was going to get Chappelle, Rock, or Shumer money. I’m surprised if she gets Cedric money. Cedric has a fanbase and over 25 years of material and touring box office reciepts to his name. Hell Kat Williams is hotter than her right now and he pretty much sabotaged HIMSELF

First off, Monique hasn't done any kind of work in a minute. I mean she had a movie maybe last year, but definitely not as active as Amy Schumer has been most recently. Also, you're NOT Chris Rock OR Chapelle...at all. Stop.

She's been blackballed since Precious, it's well documented. She's also a queen of comedy so while we can argue how much her special is worth, let's not down play her legacy like she's some third-rate comic.

There's not many women comics that are above her is what I'm saying. She deserves a million at least if Amy Schumer is pulling 10.

I'm trying to think of another comedian who could use that award to renegotiation for higher pay (even for a comedy special). You'd think it would come with some form of clout considering how much Hollywood puts the Oscar on a pedestal.
