I mean Hollywood already shoved her out and Netflix I assume is a separate entity which actually offered her money to work. She's really sabotaged her last chance
Why put all the work into making a movie and not do the schmoozing that’s also a part of your job?

How you figure nobody checking for her? How does one even measure that? IG fame?

Monique has been doing comedy shows/tours and they have been sold out. I remember seeing snippets last year during the Oprah issue.

She knows her worth.

Her worth is determined by how much someone is willing to pay. Is Hollywood offering her 500 g?

I listened to the Sway interview and it did give me her perspective on things which I respect and understand more but that doesn't mean I agree with how she does business and her strategies. She also said she is the most decorated comic alive or something which I also don't really agree at all but gives a glimpse into her ego. I do think her interview is worth watching just for the history behind the other situations.

I also don't know if her husband is her best representation. Why couldn't she get Chris Rock to help her out maybe like he did for Chappelle?

I was just watching the Seinfeld coffee/cars with comedians show episode with Bill Burr and Seinfeld was saying how execs don't even really care about the actual projects or shows sometimes. They just want to get excited about the meetings they are having and say the hype behind it all and feel like they are doing something big. They like to talk about how great their meetings are and feel good about them. These guys aren't really thinking about racial equality and legacy. They just want to be on top of the big events and shows and say they did it. (Aside from actual business numbers/ projections)

I think Haddish would have more of an argument.

Matter of fact let’s just say we are in a Parellel universe and it WAS Tiffanny Haddish who just made this claim. She’s coming off the BEST year of her career, starred in a hit movie, coming off a critically acclaimed tv show (Carmichael Show) and just became the first black woman to host SNL...

The question is does that give her leverage to demand Shumer money?

Mayyyyybeee. A Haddish Netflix special would theoretically be more popular and relevant than a Monique special. Haddish doesn’t have any major awards to her name at this point but she could point to her best selling book and higher profile upcoming TV show and movie roles. She’d have a MUCH better claim to getting $8-10 Millie than Monique does. And it couldn’t be denied her relevance or popularity.

business and her strategies: she's doing the same thing Amy did, why is it a problem now?

Ego: is it ego or facts? For me, her interview certainly exposed my bias against female(regardless of race) comics because I couldn't answer her questions about which female comic has had a career that comes close to Richard Pryor or Martin Lawrence? it is Monique

Seinfeld: This reference further proves Monique's point of the inconsistency of applying a criteria to justify worth. Be honest, did you really need him to share his that info for you to believe that in hollywood,
talent,
good ideas, and
a great resume doesn't determines how successful you are? of course not
AND
we don't need Alec Baldwin giving the details on Howard Stern Show about how certain agents are allowed access to hollywood execs and some are not. Thus he and all actors, must change agents throught their career, regardless of how great of a job their agent was doing

Breh Netflix is about making money, they don't give a fukk. Them giving her a show in first place can't be a punishment, it's not like everyone are getting their specials at Netflix :what:. Who else that's a retired part-time comedian, doing love and hiphop, never had any main role, cancelled shows, tv-show cameo is even getting Netflix Specials? :dahell:

If they are giving her a show in first place, we've already cleared any blackballing accusations. Then the price, they are most likely going by the market price. How many shows has she sold out lately, how many of Netflix demographics are fans of her, is she getting any primetime series, is she starring as main actress in any big movie and on? Rhetorical questions.

She got an Oscar for supporting, not for main and it wasn't a comedy.

It's like Cece Winans blaming Live Nation for racism and sexism cause she isn't getting what Kendrick gets for a show.

Depends on what you like but here's what I recently watched:

Bright
Punisher
Daredevil
Stranger things
Black Mirror
The Last Kingdom

And I've been hearing good things about Message from the King

But I haven't seen it yet
Is daredevil on par with the punisher?

Last kingdom was ok. Haven't indulged in stranger things or black mirror yet

At the end of day this is a business

We all know DMX is a legend but should he get paid the same as Kendrick or Drake per show in 2018?

Yea but you already admitted dmx is a legend, Monique is not

Dmx doesn't get drake money because of his addict issues but I wouldn't care if he did cause he is a legend

Some great actors/directors don't want to including the guys/women who did the matrix. But you get away with that with success

I don't know If I agree. Amy is a popular act that cacs love to watch. This ain't as straight forward as she's making it seem but she should get a reasonable offer
Most of the hate from her last special came from cacs though:russ:
"They ain't paying me as much as the most popping female comic or two of the GOAT comics even though I've been irrelevant for the last decade so fukk Netflix"
