Is the advance really that better than the original?

Was listening to this yesterday and today and didn’t even realize it was the anniversary.

I'll put them shyts against any other rappers/groups top 3 and I would probably win.

That's a vicious as threepeat, not my #1 but damn :wow:

Mobb is my #1 duo, #3 group, P like my #6 GOAT Mc and Hav my #3 GOAT producer.

So happy I saw them live :mjcry:

It's a close call to me.

What makes it tough is there are at least 2 advance versions. There may honestly be more than that. There's the copy that leaked on Napster which is what most people consider the advance, but then there's another advance that was a promotional copy that has the girl's voice saying "this is for promotional use only". Each advance has a couple the other doesn't. For example, Nobody Likes Me and Pile Raps were on the promo copy, but Thrill Me was on the bootleg.

Maybe someone like @mobbinfms or @shopant or @Soymuscle Mike can correct me, but the only songs I can think of on the retail and not on any of the advance copies are Spread Love, It's Mine, Cabn't fukk With, and the Quiet Storm Remix. Also Murda Muzik was longer on the advance.

For the retail exclusive tracks, I love It's Mine, but I like the OG Quiet Storm way more than the remix, and I can take or leave Spread Love and Can't fukk With. I think it's dope on the retail how they changed Streets Raised Me from the last track to the first.

I'm starting to ramble.

TL;DR: I heavily prefer some of the tracks that got cut (namely Pile Raps, Nobody Likes Me, and Gat Blow) over some of the ones that got added. But I also really dig the final track sequencing of the retail version. For my playlist I use the retail version with the leftovers as bonus tracks.

I'm also really tempted to include HNIC as a Mobb album and consider it a 4-album run, but even without it...Mobb Deep has my favorite 3 album run from any duo ever.

But I was just about to make a thread yesterday about how underrated M.O.P.'s 3-album run is of Firing Squad, First Family, and Warriorz. It's not quite on Mobb's 3-album run level obviously, but it's the most underrated 3-album run from any hip-hop group IMO. None of those are true 5-mic classics, but they're all at least 4 to 4.5 mics to me.

I remember getting this day one when it dropped, bootlegging pushed it back so they added some songs and took some off so we had to wait all summer to get it when it was set for spring release originally. Their last great album together IMO, it was donwhill after this for the duo and P lyrically who seemed to fall off.

Dope!

I've noticed a pattern with Mobb Deep that usually people's favorite album of theirs (out of the big 3) is the first one they heard. People might say, "No shyt. That's true with most artists" but it seems to happen with Mobb at an even higher rate. Murda Muzik is their album that I can lay the most no matter what mood I'm in. I like HOE and TI more if it's fall or winter, or if I'm in an aggressive mood, but I can pretty easily bump MM anytime of the year without having to be in a Mobb Deep mod first.
This applies to me. Murda Muzik is the first album I got of theirs and it's always been my favorite although as I get older, I've been listening to Hell On Earth more, which I consider their best album.

One thing I always loved about Murda Muzik that rarely gets talked about is that Lil' Cease verse on I'm Going Out. One of the craziest, out of nowhere verses in rap history. It still shocks me to this day that Cease killed it like that. That Sprewell line had me :gladbron: as a kid.

First mobb deep album I ever heard. My cousin had it on cassette and only realised who they was after hearing shook ones on 8 mile. We didn't even realise it was two mcs at first.

Classic album, it's dope how from infamous to murda muzik, all 3 albums had their own distinct sound.
