I think he genuinely might have blown the cover for all the other bad owners with how blatant his sabotage of the A’s has been. Dude has spent 20 years refusing to pay anyone, do any upkeep on the stadium, and then cites the stadium as the issue only to refuse to engage in any serious talks to build a new park and tries to move to what would be the smallest park and market in the majors while trying to bribe state legislators to take money from their education funding in the state budget to give a guy whose parents left the gap behind for him a new stadium as if he won’t just refuse to invest any money into the team there. Within a decade they’d be a bottom feeder in a rotting stadium in a new market with nobody in the seats while he either tries to keep cashing revenue sharing checks or would’ve cashed out to complete the pump and dump scam he’s running. Truly next level incompetence.
Edit: selig also blocked the sale of the team to multiple buyers who’d have invested in the team and the area to sell to his personal friend Lew wolf who ran the team into the ground for years and then sold his stake to fisher while spending most of the last 30 years refusing to even try to build a new park. Anyone here know what if any laws these guys might’ve broken over this whole saga?
