Crazy but expected. Oakland didn't and shouldn't have to foot the bill for a new stadium for billionaire owners. It will suck in the short term so hopefully they have a plan to recoup the lost revenue for the city.

Good. Citizens whether residents or tourists should not be footing the bill for billionaire owners especially when these owners go to war w/ local govts to keep all the revenue (or a cut of) from parking, and everything within the orbit of the stadium, etc
This is all !00% correct. No arguments here but on the flipside this is a huge blow to civic and Bay Area pride though. Very storied franchises -even though a couple were in neglect and losing seasons- leaving and bolting up out of dodge on the first thing smoking. I got family and friends all over the Bay.. those teams meant a lot to the people up there. Its facts that its good that the taxpayers didn't foot the bill for a new stadium but this still tallies as a loss for the city, area, and the residents.

The Warriors were definitely gone as they wanted a Staples Center vibe with restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. surrounding the arena. Jerry Jones secretly told Mark Davis that he had Vegas right after they announced that the Rams were going to have LA. So they were gone but at the very very worst Oakland had to work something out with the A's period.

Oakland politicians continue to be short sighted. But what else is new?

Feel bad for the fans, but whatever. As an LA native,
I really don’t have any love for the Bay Area. Once the Raiders moved to Nevada, I ceased to give a fukk about the East Bay in general.

Hopefully the A’s win a World Series after they move, just to stick it to whoever the mayor of Oakland is now.

I got family in the east bay too....they are die hard fans of all 3 teams ...even my nieces and aunts got Raider tats...they still go As games and fly the stay in Oakland flag at games.. I feel terrible for them... Their weekend would be planned around games...I would rather get an expansion team like the Golden Knights...but Oakland is not coming thru with any public financing for billionaire owners

Just like I said when the Raiders moved there, Vegas to me isn’t a sustainable city long term.

Based on what? Your opinion? Have you been to Vegas in the past 10 years? It’s basically an LA suburb now and continues to grow.

Vegas reminds me of Phoenix back in 80s and early 90s. Southern Nevada is booming and will continue to boom for the foreseeable future

any other city you can name in MLB that will depend on tourists to fill seats? Do the A’s even have a fan base there? I only say that cause when the allure erodes and they’re still losing games, who’s going?

Metro LV has a population of 3 million. Not even counting Riverside and San Bernardino counties in California which is another couple million. The population can support an MLB team. Like the old saying goes: If you build it, they will come

A’s don’t have a strong following outside of Oakland, a fanbase will be built over time if/once they move

It's not. It'll become another novelty show that hotels give free tickets to in another handful of years. The owners only see what Vegas will pay them initially, but if they're just middling like they were in Oakland ain't nobody showing up and Vegas ain't the same market as the bay. In the end even Raider fans stopped traveling when the team was meh.

California doesn’t put up money for stadiums historically simple as that
And shouldn't need to. It's California. There's a reason Vegas had to overpay to get the Raiders. California just passed Germany as the 4th biggest economy in the world. It's where the money is.

It’s crazy how Oakland is going to lose 3 legendary franchises. Every 80s kid grew up watching the Athletics. You go to little league fields around the country and the green and gold is still common. If I keep coaching I definitely plan on picking them for my team.

I have been to Vegas in the past 10 years and it’s grown but my only question is where is the city gon be in 20 years? I just question how growth will be sustained with environmental challenges like water.
