That movie was flames! It's actually the first MI movie that I enjoyed since the first one. 3 and 4 were forgettable and the only reason I remember bc that grand Canyon scene

i just don't see how you can see mcquarrie ups the liveliness with a movie that relegates ving rhames to summer 2015 judy greer status

If you think Ving Rhames is the key factor to the franchise's liveliness, that says it all about how dry the franchise as a whole is. Meanwhile I look at the whole picture and see there's more to it, such as the fact this is the first interesting villain the franchise has had since the second one. Remember the guy from Ghost Protocol? I sure as hell can't, and I only remember the one from the third because it was Philip Seymour Hoffman, but the character he played sucked. Sean Harris' portrayal of Solomon Lane alone lifts up the movie beyond those two rock dry entries.

To be fair, i enjoy all of these movies, but i then kinda forget about them(other than the occasional set piece) and never peep them again.

I'd say this movie is good overall, but I do feel it really loses steam in the third act. They shut down production for a week earlier in the year to try to come up with and ending and i think it shows.

I also feel some of the critic nerds hyped it up too much. A lot saying its their favorite of the summer and best action movie of the summer. (:mjpls:)

But the opera scene is my favorite of the yeat even if they did ripoff my man Hitchcock :obama:

Water into chase scene was fun too

That's what you get for being a follower. Maybe you should put them podcasts down for a while (eg. forever) and form some opinions of your own instead of letting others make them for you. :sas1:

Yeah I did. Just hadn't said anything about it yesterday. Wanted to get my thoughts together, plus I had some tv to catch up on when I got home.

Anyway, loved the movie. I like what McQuarrie brought to the series as far as the scenes he crafted, a visceral feeling to the stunts and the fights, and loved the Hitchcock homage. Every action scene worked as character development and the dialogue wasn't too try or too heightened; it fell in that nice sweet spot for a movie like this. Also liked how the movie questioned Ethan and his motivation and his psychology. McQuarrie certainly has a voice and it was loud and clear.

Loved how the bad guy, once again, was not trying to beat Ethan, but hit hm where it hurts by simply outsmarting him and being a threat to his ego and pride. I feel like the best villains are the ones that specifically highlight a weakness of the hero, specifically their achilles heel, and he found Ethan's and just preyed on it.

Also LOVED Rebecca Ferguson. She was so on point in her role and was possibly the most compelling character in the whole movie. She had her own motivation, she was complex, and she had a nice arc.

That was all fun stuff to me that really worked for me. Really dope flick, thoroughly enjoyed it in IMAX. Also surprised how funny it was too

Movie was very meh I think. I predicted the end within the first 30 mins. Best parts were the bike chase and watching Benji on screen. The plot was pretty boring imo. I liked the stunts, but Tom seems to be getting too old for this. And when we have a movie like Spectre on the way, I was expecting a lot more action. I'd give it a 3/5 though. Just not nearly as good as Ghost Protocol.

I know its a movie and all, but how does someone get into 2 car/bike crashes in less than 10 minutes and walk away without a scratch?

You predicted:

that Hunt would capture the villain alive in a glass cube? :ohhh:

Props to you, breh!

Naw, I predicted all that stuff with Ilsa. But I guess they made it obvious for a reason. The ending was underwhelming imo breh.
