What did he do? Clearly what AG was doing was not it.
before the season started, stotts was pulling lillard and other players aside regularly and having separate dialogues without griffin's awareness on it all - stotts was blatantly undercutting him. and whether it was warranted or not, griffin wasn't wrong for addressing that shyt immediately. too many new coaches get undercut by stuff like that.

still..... the bucks looked a fukking mess and they got by on talent the last two seasons.

Griff was so bad they forced him to hear what Doc had to say with a meeting in Vegas during the In-Season Tourney.

WOW

It was borne out of months of underwhelming play, with internal concerns growing about the severe decline of their once-elite defense

These nikkaz had jrue holiday and grayson allen backcourt and now have lilliard and malik beasley your once elite defense is Gone

Well I heard about this shyt just now as I was in some meetings, just a ton of things...
  • Lack of Dame/Giannis PNRs
  • Weird Defensive Scheme
Most of our games have not been blowouts, but rather keeping our opponents way to close; Detroit should be destroyed, but kept themselves close into the game; which I think caused this decision to be finalized.

If Bucks win the Chip after doing this, Coaches ain't going to be safe now.

That was the first thing I thought about, they almost NEVER run pick and roll, either Giannis doesn't know how or Griffin didn't run it on GP.

Very strange and looks like a really simple fix.

Looking back at it, Griff should have swallowed his pride and learned from Stotts.

As a coach, sometimes the best ones just operate as the CEO, let the assistants run some things. Esp for a rookie HC having a veteran HC right there.

Could have been more collaborative and he'd probably have learned more.

By all accounts it just seems he was bad at his job.

He's the typical coach (any sport) that gets hired if you have star players. Recognizable face whose use to coaching star names. On paper he only has only 2 losing seasons. And pretty much guarantees a conference semi final berth 10 out of the last 15. 4 1st round exits and 1 year didn't make the playoffs since winning the title with the Celtics. But then when you look at the talent he has had at his disposal :francis:
Doc has had an inordinate amount of tough breaks as a coach.

Chris Paul flopping for a call and turning it over against OKC and costing them the series in 2014.

Josh Smith and Corey Brewer shooting out of their minds in the 4th quarter of game six in 2015 with Harden on the bench.

The 3-1 lead in The Bubble against Denver.

Ben Simmons quitting against the Hawks.

Embiid NEVER coming through against Boston.

You can say Doc is the constant but I feel some of that is out of his control.

I think it's fair to say now he knew AG didn't know what he was doing or in over his head. :yeshrug:

Being up 3-2 in 2010 against the Lakers, then Perk tearing his ACL in Game 6

I know the coli doesn’t watch basketball like that but nikka pointing at 30-13 like they was balling fr sound crazy. They been coasting off straight talent . It’s been basically let Dame shoot from 40 or pray Giannis can hit stick 3 nikkas on his way to getting a lay-up.

The damn Pistons made them look easy as hell to defend

They not running his defensive scheme,he’s not an offensive mastermind …why was he there ?

nah fukk that, respectfully. i'll stay consistent on two things being true

1) griffin was 100% right to not cede ground and protect his position as the head coach of his team. too many black coaches play nice and get undercut by replacements that they enabled by being passive.

2) griffin was terrible on both ends of the court and the bucks record is not indicative of his success, but the talent of that roster. they've had two horrible coaches back to back in bud and griffin. they should've never hired a rookie coach for a team with championship aspirations and clear course correction in mind.
