The "atheist" man was clearly unstable and violent in general. It's also a big mistake to ask an abused woman if she's being abused when her abusive man is in the same room, if you care about her safety at all. The pastor seems like he was trolling as well by asking that question, just because the guy was an atheist.

It's also a big mistake to purposely antagonize the muslim world with offensive cartoons but I didn't see any of you guys making excuses for them when that whole situation was being debated :mjpls:

1. dont downtalk a man in front of his woman. if he is bout that life, he may get violent. preachers are used to sonning grown men in front of their families on a daily basis and have lost touch with reality. it's like what kanye said, that atheist took him to the ghetto university...
2. atheists dont have a dogma to base their actions on, so it is hard to draw direct comparisons between the actions of an atheist and a theist. the theist may commit an act of violence in accordance with his holy book or cleric's decree, so you can implicate his religion in his actions. atheists have nothing to point to, they just beat the breaks off a man because of some other reason.
3. religious people also commit violence for no religious reason, in those instances you cant blame their religion, but you can point out that their religion is failing to make a better man out of them. this may seem petty, but many religious people claim that their religion makes the world better and that they are the only source of morality. when real life proves this to be not the case, at least in a particular instance, it is worth pointing out, obviously.

:yeshrug:get taken to that ghetto university, brehs!

:heh: more hypocrisy. shyt is comical, for real.

I, as well as many others were making these same arguments for muslims while you fukking pansies were running around whining about democracy and free speech. But now religious people should be been mindful of their actions around atheists because they may be "bout that life" :laff:

Are you implying it's okay to kill someone if they offend you?

I'm not implying, I'm outright declaring that in most cases people will face the consequences of their actions, whether those actions are morally justified or not.

I THINK HE'S IMPLYING HE BELIEVES THE MUSLIM WORLD IS UNSTABLE AND VIOLENT IN GENERAL, BROTHER!

So is a place like chicago, which means I wouldn't go over there needlessly looking for drama.

If someone purposely antagonizes a religious person by insulting his beliefs outright and gets the kind of conflict he was looking for, it's because religion breeds violence. If a religious guy gets beat down for insulting an atheist in front of his woman then he's partly to blame and the atheist is "bout that life." fukk that garbage.

There are two relatively distinct things at work here: basic knowledge of cause and effect, and normative judgments. I have no doubt that some Muslims would be inflamed to violence by seeing a cartoon, seeing as it's already happened. That is a matter of cause and effect. I find that behavior reprehensible and foolish and condemn it- that's the normative aspect. So if someone is going to draw a cartoon that criticizes Islam in some way, I can know that it may lead to a violent response, in terms of pure cause and effect, and I can call that response barbaric and ridiculous, from a normative standpoint, at the same time.

Similarly, here, I can know that the pastor was tempting fate by insulting the violent man, and provoking an attack on the woman by asking her if she was abused in front of him, as mere cause and effect, but I can also find the violent man's actions wrong, and condemn the pastor's ignorance in his putting the woman at risk, as normative judgments.

I don't remember you or the rest of the guys who are in your echo chamber saying as much when we were having those discussions back when all that was going down. It was all about how Islam is incompatible with the west, muslims are savages, muslims are violent, the qur'an breeds hate, etc.

I remember doing the same thing you are doing now - condemning the actions of muslims who were rioting and inciting violence while at the same time condemning the stupidity of those provoking them...and getting killed for it by the KTL atheist brigade.
