98.7 is doing better for 2 reasons:

1. the fukking signal is better (not as clear as KISS FM used to be, but clearer)

2. Kay and Stephen A. Smith along with Russillo. They're getting better because they're more NY-centric than the generic shyt everyone else is subject to. I'd make them a 24 hour NY-centric station instead of syndicating. Clearly New Yorkers don't care about Cowherd or Mike & Mike.

Sid does one-offs with WFAN but he'll never get a permanent gig again.

I do like that WFAN recognizes that they need new blood by doing these contests every year. Sussman's cool. I've spoken to him several times. His voice might be annoying but he knows his shyt. Jastremski's cool too. I hope they don't get sent to other parts of the country like they always do to new heads like Adam The Bull. There are shows in different parts of the country that are really cool (Brandon Tierney and Ric Bucher will be must hear radio out in the Bay)

Tierneys kind of a douche but not a bad host im surprised wfan didnt go after him.. i think the contests are a good idea but they need young blood who have been in the industry for at least a few years not these raw dudes.

His show with Bucher is pretty solid and Kellermans show with Macrceullus in LA.Theyres some young talent from the ny area but wfan let them go and i guess feels more cofmortable i guess with middle age guys

yea when I saw Eric Davis went to NFL Net I checked to see who replaced him. Saw it was Bucher and was like :ohhh: because he'll do b-ball of course, but he also covered football in the bay for years. Might have to check that throughout the seasons. They got the A's and Giants in the hunt too. So Tierney got blessed with that gig really. Good for him. No need to come back to NY. Same goes for Kellerman with the LA gig...coincides with his boxing too.

And the FAN's contest is cool. This year's winner sounds like he knows all his sports too. Get these guys to fill in during the daytime on the main men's off-days in spots...not just Moose and fukkin Kim Jones.

Evan is actualy a pretty solid host but something about him makes me want to punch in in the face:ohlawd:

:russ:
And in my opinion being with him has ruined joe, when francesa was on vacation they separated them a couple of times and joe was much better not old school joe but the bro's were less common.

I think you guys are underselling New York a little bit on the basketball front. Mike has obviously lost all interest since the Ewing days but when something big happens there are still a ton of callers. WFAN was jam packed with Knick calls during Lin's little run earlier this season.

But Mike doesn't care. He's that old white fan. He'd rather talk baseball, ponies, even golf. Football is obviously a huge deal but is it me or are all the Giants fans dying off? I know Mike has this rivalry going on with the Jets but it's literally been 85% Jets callers for the past two seasons and the Giants WON the Super Bowl! Where are the fans?

The Giants won the Super Bowl. Sports talk radio is like hip-hop: at its best when it thrives off misery. Once you win a title, after the celebration is over, the urgency to call up and bytch just isn't there. Giants fans exist. They call when they lose or when it's the eve of the Superbowl, but other than that, they're fat cats and hearing fat cats doesn't make for great radio.

Knicks fans call up at night, and it's mostly either to slurp Lin and talk about how much they hated basketball til he came around or to bytch about STAT and Melo. All other calls are either "waah I still hate LeBron" or "I have a trade proposal. How about we trade Melo and like J.R. Smith for Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. I'll just hang up and hear what you have to say, thanks"

Yeah - but the Yanks fans are the fattest of cats living large and there is NO shortage of bytching on their front. :heh:

Not just this season. Every season. I've seen constant Yankee fan bytching during 100 win years. It literally does not end from beginning of spring training all through the winter.

The day the Yanks were eliminated by the Angels in '02 you had people wanting to kill the pitching staff and fire Torre and this was two years removed from winning four out of five.

It made for good radio though and Dog was having the time of his life.

That's because Yankee fans are always on the ledge. I heard calls in 2009 after game 5 of the World Series wanting Girardi fired. We celebrate for about 48 hours when we win and then go back to being overly concerned about next year's team.

Max Kellerman had the game on lock. That dude was a die hard Yankees/Giants fan. The way he would shyt on The Mets was :heh: Max also talked a lot of basketball during the season.

:russ: At Mike sleeping. He is a on cruise control when Maddog left he completely lost any comedy aspect lowkey Mike was kind of a funny dude at times. Whens the last time he sonned Sweeney I don't remember honestly.

It's a shame they let there egos get in the way as much as it probably bothers them they caught magic in a bottle with that combination. Hopefully Maddog comes back but it seems more likely that they wouldnt want to team up again. But Mike still has the best show in New York.
