I think Mad Dog would come back, but by the time he does, they're not gonna wanna do it much longer, so a reunion would be brief. The only reason why Mike hasn't walked away yet is because the money's too good and he gets to nap on the job.
If Mike stays on by himself I only give it 3 more years before he decides to call it a career.
WFAN has been fading for a bit now.
I know Boomer and Carton do pretty well....but there's too much non sports related crap that happens it becomes tough to listen. Carton is meh, he tries to hard to be Howard.
The midday show is awful. Im sorry. Ive followed Bengingo since he was a caller and did overnights...but he now he gives off this vibe that its a chore to come in and talk sports for 3 hours. He doesnt even pretend to watch the games anymore. He's literally makes several points a show with zero evidence to back it up. Evan needs to realize that no one cares about the Mets in September. He could sit there and talk and talk about the Mets. No one cares right now. He's a snooze to me.
Mike when he wants to be still has it. He's been on cruise control for years now. He doesnt even pretend to try anymore...people are just so locked into 660 on that drive time I guess it doesnt make a difference....but eventually it will start to fade mpre than it is now. The Sweeney report is a snooze fest. The Mets are 50 games under 500 in September, enough with the Terry Collins reports. No one cares. A big problem is as you've pointed out...is teh Yankees are boring. The only controversy that comes about is when he creates it himself. DItto the Mets...the biggest Mets story of the season was Tank blowing up during a meaningless game in August.
The NFL has become a 365 sport. The NBA is growing...the Knicks have gained momentum...theres a team in BK now. Its unbelievable how the station doesnt talk any basketball. There's a huge audience for it.
Another shame is what's become of Mikes best contribution to the station- the NFL Now. Its turned into recycled interviews from the week and endless commercials.

Regular season nba is meaingless youll bore the audience to tears with alot of regualr season talk
yea & had 98.7 won over the Yankees, it might've really been a wrap in the next few years.im not asking for a ton of it...but there at least needs to be an acknowledgment of it...98.7 has been getting better ratings though
more importantly though the station just needs some new blood

Hilarious how Benigno doesn't seem to know what's going on. Evan always has to explain what happened or what was said like Joe is his grandfather & Joe's like, "Is that right? Is that what happened? No, what'd he say?"
But yea, Sid Rosenberg ain't coming back, Kellerman isn't comit back, etc. So it's gonna take some new, younger people to make it happen.
Once Mike signs off, his old fans will follow too & they'll be forced to get with the times. But WFAN might be so desperate to keep him in 2014 that they'll throw the house at him money-wise.

Boomer & Carton's show is designed to not be 100% sports, like Imus. The only time Imus ever talked sports was during updates.
Joe and Evan are OK, though it gets really tedious to hear Joe say "no doubt about it bro. Bro, no doubt about it" a million times. Benigno's the human dap button. Evan by himself is not bad, mostly because he'll go out of his way to talk hoops or football.
Mike's on cruise control. I think it's too late for a partner. It's either Maddog or nothing. The only good thing I guess is that the end is coming soon. He already deaded Mike'd Up (Really Bruce Beck'd Up) because he wanted more time with his kids. He won't stay long.
The problem with basketball is this: the few hosts that talk about it (and hosts there DO bring up basketball. Malusis, Paige, Sussman, Jastremski) do overnights. If it's not Knicks related, New Yorkers tend to not give a fukk about anything else unless it's a trade proposal. They don't get the dial moving when it comes to talking about other teams. The Nets simply don't get attention because they were from NJ and were boring as all fukk to talk about. Same with the Devils (and they were a Stanley Cup Finals team with games on WFAN). If it were me, I'd talk basketball ad nauseum, but you already know callers will just be like "hey Mike, just wanted to make a couple points about the Mets" and change the subject.
