If you are not physically/mentally prepared to be arrested,shot at, hit with rubber bullets, tear gassed, tazed , left in jail for a day and the consequence this will have on your future DONT go down there.

I'm TELLING YOU brehs. This is the perfect moment for black people to wake up and link economically. The damage that could be done in Ferguson PALES in comparison to the economic damage we can cause if stand together and boycott/disrupt the Christmas shopping season. I hear what you're saying, bro. And you're definitely saying the right thing. Hurting dominant society financially is the only way in which the black community as a collective can make our presence felt and our issues heard. When we stop forking over our hard-owned dollars to white-controlled society AND practice and perfect our group economics, then dominant society will actively start attempting to listen to the blakc community's demands. This is exactly what happened at the height of the Civil Rights Movement when blacks organized a NATIONWIDE boycott of white-owned public transportation, hotels and restaurants. It was only then (especially under under international scrutiny) that dominant society started to acknowledge the demands of our leaders.

But can we, as a community, ever organize something as epic as nationwide boycotts of white-owned businesses? In the age of social media, I'm not sure if we can boycott Apple, McDonalds and Hilton hotels.

You are very naive if you believe that black people's issues centers around poverty. Our issues are a cultural one. You can dump billions of dollars into the hood to fight but it wont stop the poverty mindset. It's really quite simple blacks dont support each other nor invest in their own communities. This is where our frustration really stems from and when incidents like these occur it gives us a reason to redirect our focus.
R.I.P to Mike Brown and condolences to his grieving parents but since his death there have been countless young black youths who've been murdered by other blacks. So when I look at the outrage regarding this young man's untimely death, I can't help but see it as disingenuous. Black people don't really care about the lives of their children. It only matters to us when that child's life is taken by someone white. This is the only time our lives have value.

Trust me i coach High School basketball and have for many years so i deal with black teens shooting each other on a regular basis over nothing. Although i agree with you and fact is still that 9 out of 10 black people in America are killed by other black people. But the Police and Military are becoming a serious problem and just getting worse day by day. Listen i'm in my 30's now and understand this. But poverty is still a major issue please don't try to downplay that. I was in North Philly recently and the magnitude of poverty was horrible. Every house looked like it was about to crumble to the ground. So i stand by what i said that i would like to see the entire Military budget used to fight poverty and help the black community.

and i been in war... I'd rather not get hit, gassed , or arrested.. But If they are gonna make a stand then , I can't blame them - and if they need more numbers then I feel we should all support it - Whether I go or not , my people are under attack so........ it might be a no brainer.

I'd rather see us cripple shyt economically, but i guess, baby steps.
