Stop making excuses he never repeated. Kobe went to 3 straight finals and repeated AGAIN without Shaq.

Duncan had Manu and Parker. Lets not underrate them and overrate Pau now. Come on your better than that Wilt.
A ring is a ring. Doesn't matter if you won 4 in a row or one every other year. You don't get an extra ring for repeating.

Word? Duncan has 4 without Shaq :troll:

 The Spurs won two titles without Parker and Manu playing a big role, matter of fact Parker was benched for Speedy Claxton in the finals...Speedy Claxton.

You're coming up with ridiculous stipulations, again 4 titles in an 8 year run, but they didn't repeat so their titles are null and void.

The number 1 seed isn't always the best team in the league, or haven't the Cavs and Bulls proven that enough?

Again, they had the number 1 seed 6 times during his prime, they won the title 3 times. 4 titles in 8 years, that is a great run :shaq2:

No doubt it's a great run and Duncan is a great player. But we are talking about rankings of GREAT players. Duncan losing with number 1 seed and never repeating is two of the main reasons why he is not higher than Kobe in my eyes.

Both Bron and Rose failed those years...they both should of made the Finals. Sorry I don't make excuses...it is what it is.

5 > 4 titles

7 > 4 Final appearances

4 > 2 in head to head playoff matches

If U think Duncan is the best I'm cool with that because it's close but I think Kobe is the best player of his generation

Oh look, I can play this game too!

4 titles as the man > 2 titles as the man
3 finals MVPs > 2 finals mvps
2 mvps > 1 mvp

If it's cool to think Duncan is the best player of this generation, why are you taking exception to me saying he's the best of this generation :mindblown:

And what happens if the Spurs win a title this year, then what?

Tim Duncan is definately my 2nd favourite player ever but if you are insinuating that he has had a greater career, or was at any time a greater player than Kobe then :snoop:

Literally the only thing Duncan has ever done better than Kobe is rebound, and he has one less championship.

I mean Kobe is probably the second best player in the L TODAY and that alone speaks volumes.

If you're talking about finals teams, Kobe went to three straight finals with the only allstar being PAU GASOL, who was at his best a 18 and 11 player. Not to downplay Pau but that was his contribution, Duncan had Parker and Ginobili.

Kobe always crushed the Spurs in all their head to heads I think that in and of itself is explanatory and in their last meeting the Spurs were dismissed.

Kobe is the 2nd greatest player to ever play already. People have a competitive bias against him because he's out there playing against their favorite teams but when he's no longer in the back of peoples minds as a threat they'll reflect on his greatness.

I'm not, your taking exception to me saying kobe is the best of his generation. I just said I have no problem with people saying Duncan is the best I just gave my reasons why he wasn't...that's all.

Broke, I hate to say this but I stopped reading right there......and I was gonna stop when you said he might be the 2nd best player in the league today, like Durant died or something.

Kareem is arguably the best player ever, which would make Jordan the 2nd best player ever, how then is Kobe the 2nd greatest player ever when two guys have legitimate claims to the throne.

Uh, you responded to me first not the other way around, need to scroll up fam?

I said Duncan was the best player of this generation and you responded to ME. Outside of me saying Kobe isn't a top 5 player, do you see me objecting or pointing out people who are saying he's the best of this generation?

That's one of the more overplayed angles in recent sports history. Winning 4 titles in 8 years is winning 4 titles in 8 years. How can a perennial 55+ win team with championships be under the radar? :dwillhuh: The only year they lost where they should have won was in 06. Honestly if the Spurs got the same whistles that other champions (Lakers, Bulls, C's, Heat that same year) got they probably would have won that year. In 2000 Duncan got hurt. In 2004 Duncan was all alone out there. In 08 the Lakers gave it to them good an deep (ll).

He failed multiple times(sometimes in embarrassing fashion) with the number 1 seed...stop making excuses.

I think the list starts with MJ, Wilt, KAJ. I think Wilt has a claim to the throne too. Thoughts?

The Lakers were better in 2001. Much better. Lakers weren't the number 1 seed, because they didn't give a fukk the regular season.

The Lakers had chemistry when Malone was healthy and contributing.

A ring is a ring. Doesn't matter if you won them by repeating or not. You are making it seem like Duncan is some underachiever. He has FOUR RINGS.

If you want to say Kobe is better than Duncan. Say its because he was the better player. Not the retarded reasons you are giving.

I'm giving reasons to why I rank Kobe over Duncan. It's retarded that you're giving passes to Duncan for failing. Those reasons i gave go back to people overrating Duncan going 4-0 in Finals. A great feat in grand scheme of things but when ranking players you have dig a little deeper. He should of been in more finals since he had the number 1 seed so many times. Kobe made it to the Finals every time he had the number 1 seed.
