:ohhh:

Interesting way of putting this match..........

Cotto is less overrated though:youngsabo:
It's clear both are on the way out and don't want to fight a young buck unless they have to since they will lose their chance at PPV's. Cotto's fans will now talk about him being a monster when he will be will oversized by Martinez , but predict a knockout whereas Martinez is banged up and an old fighter with a youthful style. Too bad Cotto signed with Top Rank for the end of career...

He didn't sign a long term contract with Top Rank. They've been trying to get the Martinez fight and the easiest route for that was with Top Rank being they work with HBO and Martinez has a contract with HBO as well. If he beats Martinez I think the obvious targets would be a Floyd rematch or maybe Canelo gets a shot if he wins his next fight (seems like it's gonna be Angulo). Cotto's only gonna go for the big money fights and based on what Top Rank has to offer I'd assume he'd work with Golden Boy after this being he wins.

I'm pretty sure that their is a silent agreement with the Cotto camp to stay with TR due to their belief of how poorly Golden Boy handled him during their tenure. Right now Cotto wants the most winnable PPV fight which is Martinez, who is an aging fighter who fights a style that is best suited for a young man

Even though Martinez is past it, I still thinks he beats Cotto. I think the Canelo fight is more winnable for Cotto. Martinez is still quick, still has some heavy hands, and still is the bigger stronger more physical fighter. If Trout could pretty much manhandle Cotto, I see Sergio doing the same thing and probably force a stoppage. I know I shyt on Martinez, but his style would give Cotto fits.

I think Martinez knows Cotto is the biggest $$$ fight he can realistically get. If he gets passed Cotto I think the obvious next fight would be Golovkin.
If he beats Cotto, especially if it's impressive fashion, Martinez can leap frog GGG for now and make his way onto the Mayweather/Canelo big money fight short list. And DiBella has made it clear he's trying to steer Martinez clear of GGG anyway.

The thing preventing that is his HBO contract and I don't think that's up until maybe end of next year. If the Cotto fight is in June and say he wins there's nobody else for him to fight for big money. Golovkin too from now would need to beat Stevens, I assume Martin Murray afterwards then a Martinez fight in the Fall. Then again, Martinez may only fight once next year :manny:

Exactly, If Trout with his light punching self, could fukk Cotto's face up, imagine when Sergio start raining straight lefts on his ass.
