(imo) young thug played a big part in the current sound especially with the r&b biters
T pain started the autotune, Wayne got it from him and others followed suit, then here comes Future then everybody followed suit. I don't know why nikkas keep mentioning Kid Cudi no one in the south listens to Kid Cudi. I've never met anyone IRL that was a kid Cudi fan.

Theres no denying they didnt invent the shyt or that they were even the first new school dudes to use it (Future,ASAP) but didnt spread like wildfire and become the standard flow in the game until they dropped that first YRN mixtape.
