Man I watched their other movies since. They might actually be out of *good* ideas.
This might be a minority opinion but I'd def be down for more Matrix. There are tons of stories and even time periods that can be explored in that universe.

I will say I'm on board with those that don't want to see a reboot. That first one is classic and I can't take seriously a Matrix canon that doesn't include it.
I kind of wish they could Days of Future Past it. Make the Matrix canon, and scrub Reloaded and Revolutions away from existence through mumbo jumbo bullshyt
Or make the theory true that everything that happened in the OG trilogy was in the matrix as well, an almost endless series of simulations. fukk Zion, I never wanted that to be the real world anyway
The Michael B Jordan films could be in the same universe but set deep into an alternate simulation

Whoever picks up the mantle for this has their work cut out for them. 
The first movie was a classic case of 'right place, right time' - it came out in '99 and they pretty much marketed it as a movie for the new millenium. On top of that, they brought in a bunch of tricks and ideas that had probably been used for years in Asian films, but seemed new to Western cinema. If they made a new one, I'd hope they'd give it some wider context than just "We wanted to use a tried and tested idea"
If they can figure out a way to level up on what they did before - it could be interesting.
