It looks like you miss out on a ton of upgrades and shyt if you don't mess around with the social aspects?
Some are missable without the social but the majority of the cards are pulls from finishing missions and research

Plus the social scenes are skippable

I get the nagging about the cut scenes and in-between mission stuff, but honestly i give them credit for it. It's a love letter to hardcore comic book fans. Even tho they did take some liberties with the lore, I'm impressed by the level of detail and authenticity they injected into the character depictions.

i.e. Magik is one of those obscure'ish characters that you'd never see get this level of attention except in the actual comics and not even in the main x-men books but in the tertiary ones. So to see that here and done well, was a surprise. Basically: while the book club meetings and friendship stuff will seem like skippable filler to some, it'd be a treat for comic heads.

They messed up making it a card game. Marvel + X-com is a sellable concept, but throw a card game mechanic on top of that and it turns into a totally different concept. The card game aspect is pretty much what keeps me from copping.

Too bad it wasn't the game fans wanted it to be which is why it bombed, the the biggest franchise on earth and waste it on a card game brehs.

Honestly I wrote this game off way back when it was first revealed because the card shyt was a turn off for me, but nah it’s actually really good :ehh:

It still very much feels like a strategy game and combat is legit fun in its own right. If you’re interested in the game don’t let that stop you you may be surprised at how much you like it. I was skeptical on reveal and it ended up being one of my favorite games last year

It doesn’t feel like you’re playing on some yu-gi-OG card duel shyt it’s more strategy/positioning based and the cards you draw/keep in your hand determine your available actions each turn so you have to be creative with your strategies, you can’t just spam the same setup in every encounter you have to adapt to the situation and use your resources wisely. The payoff for smart play is :banderas:

yep, i wrote it off initially too, but after playing all those good reviews are clearly deserved. reminds me of sleeping dogs, game flopped too despite being well recieved. Eventually gained something of a cult following over the years, but obviously the money was never there for a sequel. so this will likely just go down like that a cult classic, maybe in 10 years they'll remaster it. but for all intents and purposes, a one and done experiment.

I get how card game dissuades people, it does bring to mind too much grinding and predatory aspects.

It's neither of those things, card abilities come out with a normal amount of play, nothing's paywalled except for some goofy costumes. I actually like the system more than XCOM.

I'll get it when is like 10, like I said a demo would had helped with a game that had so much mixed hype around it, will never get these companies.
