I've been harassed by the judicial system and the police my whole life.
I've seen it, I've lived it. It's cruel, it's ugly, it's racist.

Have I been called a ****** to my face in recent memory? No.
Has it happend? More than I probably care to admit to myself.
Is it due to jealous and or ignorance? Every time.

I don't deny for a second that racial profiling doesn't occur, but never had it happen to me.

I just found it interesting how I was able to relate to this uncle tom on certain instances.

For one, I see through the inequality constructed throughout this nation as well as the institutionalized racism.

The most outwardly racist are the Asians. They will stare, look very scared or even say racist things.

The Mexicans are the next in the ranking. They will say stuff here and there between their friends, but not to a black person's face unless they are really mad.

White people will be cool, until the blacks leave. I have experienced plenty of times.

If there is a black guy who "gets it" by white standards and by that i mean, acts white and adheres to WASP culture. They will go gaga over the guy.

Everything you listed was a complete generalization. These scenarios can play out in numerous ways. There's blacks who I know who are hardcore racist against whites, asians and hispanics. There's Mexicans who are hardcore racist against anyone who isn't "Mexican". Try a little harder.

Obviously there's a lot of Asians who don't like white people either, if they overwhelming voted for a "black" president over the white candidate.

I'm sure that not "all" the non-black people whom frequent this forum or just HL for that matter, view "blacks" as anything less than people.

People are people...

Just as there are, aint sh*t white people(white trash), there's aint sh*t asians and so on. Not "every" person of "Asian" decent is a genius. They have a rather huge population. So there's bound to be smart and dumb people in every culture.

Honestly, if people traveled more, they'd learn not to take the subtle racism or anything from true "Americans" too seriously, unless it's directly impeding to your life.

There's a whole world out there. Not everything is the same. As I always say, I experience less racial undertones aboard than in a couple days in the U.S.

I don't really get people saying they don't know what middle class is. I know a bunch of "middle class" black people. I gave the Economist definition of it the other day, but I think it was daze or somebody who said something like they wanted specific numbers.

I mean, like @Serious said that they, being middle class depends on the cost of living where you're at so pure numbers don't mean all that much without context. Now with that said, your relationship with the cops on an anecdotal level doesn't really mean much. I initially wasn't going to post anything because really all we're doing is comparing anecdotes which again, don't mean all that much when looking at raw data and actual policy aimed at predominantly African-American areas. But I guess it makes for interesting conversation.

With that said, I dressed like everyone else did as a kid and the cops never really bothered me, but I wasn't out in the street like that. The older I got the more "descriptions" I started to fit. My city's cops were a$$holes, and even my teacher got pulled over before (a white guy) because he was bringing a hispanic student home and they thought that it had to be a drug transaction. Had them on the street patting them down. So the older I got, the more I began to distrust cops and that's when I started to dislike. That's when people I knew started getting pulled over. That's when I got pulled over. I've seen cops spaz out and cuss out my cousin for doing nothing but sitting on a corner during a cook out. They're a$$holes.

But on the flip side, a couple of my friends had parents who were cops and they were genuinely good people. The bad ones ruin it for everyone else. Most cops are ex-jocks that are power tripping (that's my anecdotal exaggeration). I haven't been around home for 5 years now so I can't say how they'd react me now.

I told my white and mexican co-workers AND BOSS, "See how THEY ARE, always using racism as a bullshyt excuse". You know what? None of them said anything to disagree. my boss at the time said, "that's just how those n1ggers are...better just learn to deal with it."

Now, in the corporate world, I have never heard anything like that. Small comments here and there but never anything that extreme. I have never hung out with black people at work, so I don't know what goes on from their POV

One of the biggest problems in our community (and this country in general) is the inability to accept responsibility. Yes there are systematic failures but at the end of the day, if you are making bad choices or housing counterproductive attitudes you are the problem

If he grew up in Philly and is considering himself middle class, I'd have to say he didn't grow up in North/West Philly. So I'm starting to question how exposed he was to situations of conflict

i have never been tied up to a back of a truck and drugged to my death....it still happened though

i have never pulled my wallet out and gotten shot 41 times......it still happened though

i was not in new orleans when thousands of black people were left without aid for days after a hurricane......it still happened though.

i was not pepper sprayed by white police officers and told "have your president come help you".........it still happened though

in even lamer terms, i have never been robbed a day in my life, but i know robbers still exist, i aint never been raped, but i know rapist still exist.

so the answer to minimize the effects of racism is just move to a better neighborhood? wow, should have just sent that memo to all the people who fought in the 60's would have saved them a ton of hours in those marches.

if a group of people in the hood are getting discriminated against based on the color of they skin or even the class in which they economic situation dictates for them to live, then that is a shot towards me as well and i live in what is considered middle class, maybe even high class, and i still am ticked to see things going on based on us being a dark skinned people

Crooked cops have nothing to do with a lot of the choices people make in these neighborhoods. But nobody wants to talk about that
