Because there's a solid chunk of people that don't even know the trick exists. That's what it's called a trick/workaround/hack. It's not common knowledge.

My best friend is a HUGE Xbox fan. Only console family he'll ever own, extolls the virtues of GamePass to everyone, all that. Follows gaming pretty closely online. When I told him I reupped using the conversion method, his mind was fukking BLOWN, because he had no idea it existed. In a world where GamePass is as easy to sign up for in the click of a few buttons, why would the average person think about seeking out XBox Live Gold cards? Most people don't even know they still exist.
