Got in a night flight today. Second version of the DA-40 has a glass cockpit. Game changer when I set that altitude and heading hold :wow:. Even threw in a half assed flight plan when I got into the air. DA-40 is one of those planes you have to manage while in flight. Fuel feeds from the left tank, so you have to periodically flip the switch to transfer from the right tank... just don't forget that you flipped that switch. Took it up to 12500 this time - easy with 50% fuel, a struggle when you're heavier than that. I'm a handful of flights away from getting into the DA-62 and eventually back into the CJ4 when I map my throttle properly.

Also if anyone knows how to consistently get rid of that goddamn top bar, please let me know. Damn thing has a mind of its own and it really fukks up some good shots.

I know the left analog stick on the controller toggles auto pilot and allows you to access that top bar. If you want it gone completely I'm assuming it's somewhere in the options?

So my uncle was having issues with his rudders working in reverse of default. He brought his sticks over, I fixed it on my console and saved everything and he says when he got home they was reversed again. I even named the load out under hotas controls.

getting everything to work properly on the hotas has been an issue. I still can't get the landing gear to work with the assigned button. Only if I assign a different button.

Anyone else having that issue and how did you fix it???

People have complained about it in the MSFS Forums, apparently a bug introduced in Sim Update 5 where it doesn't auto hide properly, or at least consistently. I did read something about moving the mouse to the bottom right of the screen and it'll fade, so I'll try that tomorrow.

Are you sure the stuff you did saved for whatever profile he plays on? The bindings save to you, not to the pedals. Also make sure the new profile is active, and applied. I've made the mistake of setting bindings and then not using the new profile.

Alright I'm putting together a world tour and plan to hit most major Coli™ favorites. shyt gets left out because I just forgot about it. I'm going to throw up all the planning materials I use to make this happen. Starting with a rough cut of the flight plan (just airports). I'll get more into it with proper routes as I go along. Google Drive Folder: Harlem to Bolivia – Google Drive
It started off as a trim from Harlem to Bolivia, as many dudes do as well, but then I said fukk it, let's go around this flat earth.

  • We start off in Harlem - well, New York at KLGA
  • We pop up north to laugh at them Canadian goofies in Toronto at CYYZ
  • Fly through Chicago but not for too long :mjpls: KORD
  • Down through the DMV at KIAD
  • Definitely not in Harlem anymore as we roll through KATL
  • Hit up the Cubans in KMIA
  • Quick hop to the Bahamas at MYNN
  • Check on the Dominicans in Santo Domingo :mjpls: MDSD
  • Avoid Haiti and head to Barbados TBPB
  • Get set up in Venezuela while we make it through South America SVMI
  • Fly nice and high over the Medellin in Colombia SKRG
  • Down round the coast to Lima, Peru SPJC
  • And reach the original final destination in La Paz, Bolivia SLLP
  • Start moving eastward to Sao Paulo, Brehzil SBGR
  • See which Coli posters fiances are sharing themselves with the Brehzilians in Rio SBGL
  • All the way cross the ocean to Nigeria :mjpls: DNMM
  • Visit the original set of brehitos in Barcelona LEBL
  • Fly past the Eif-L-Tower with LFPG
  • Up to the UK at London-Heathrow, EGLL
  • Through Germany to see the Nurburgring at EDDN
  • Over Vatican city near LIRF
  • Past the Greeks and their non-Harlem behavior LGAV
  • Hit up the Pyramids near Giza and Cairo HECA
  • Tel-Aviv Israel :mjpls: LLBG
  • Bahrain to see some expensive ass buildings OBBI
  • Dubai:mjgrin: OMDB
  • Visit the exact call center Nap operates out of VOHS
  • Bangkok :dame: VTBS
  • Singapore for some night flying WSSS
  • Manila for some more :dame: RPLL
  • Hong Kong for the first taste of China

  • Taiwan, which is a province of China, respectfully
    full
    RCTP
  • Shanghai to get closer to the north ZSPD
  • Paradise ZKPY
  • Land of the plastic surgery RKSI
  • Namesake of Coli biracial favorite, Naomi Osaka RJBB
    upload_2021-2-5_19-38-15-png.2299671
  • Followed by a quick hop to Tokyo RJAA
  • And the last stop in Japan, RJCC
    z0wyXim.jpg
  • A real brief stop in some random ass Russian place to get set to hop back to North America, UHPP
  • Maybe they got polar bears and igloos and shyt, PANC
  • Last stop to shyt on the Canadians CYVR
  • Through Redmond to fly over Microsoft Headquarters KSEA
  • Portland, probably going to get skipped KPDX
  • Golden Gate, Alcatraz, and Facebook KSFO
  • And touch down to complete the trip in LA at KLAX
A lot of planning for each hop. Clearly going to have to figure out airliners before I start ocean hopping. About 45 locations to hit, 30 thousand nautical miles, and and estimated 274 hours continuous flying (11 days) :whew:. If I can even stick with this whole thing then I might throw in some final hops through Vegas, Phoenix, and Dallas, then back up to New York. But we'll see how it goes :whoa:

I'm gonna fly to Montana to listen to Kanye's album and then on the way back I might hit up White Castle to keep it gutter. I might even run into gutter and Lil Cease while I'm in line :yeshrug:

Flight plans for the first 5 legs are uploaded to the drive. They really are longer than I intended :picard:. Sky Vector talmbout 4-7 hours, but that can't be right, right :mjcry:? At any rate, the .PLN can be loaded into the game if you really want to fly the path. So far the flight plans have been generated with the DA62 in mind but if it's going to be like this, I might have to get into something much quicker.

Edit: Preview of the first flight. I input it manually first, then went back to the World Map and loaded the .PLN. 3 Hours is more reasonable :ehh:. That might be a tomorrow thing.

Welp, I said fukk it lets go. Started off at Gate D 5B, max fuel because I intended to complete the entire flight. Programmed the GPS all nice and neat and then started my taxi. It was a long taxi, took a couple of minutes, and as I got closer I realized something ain't quite right :patrice:. Flight plan called for RW 04, opposite of where I wanted to start off pointing. So IF you follow the flight plan, take off RW 22 to the southwest. Get in the air, gear up, flaps up, AP on, toggle NAV, off and running :salute:. It was some real pilot shyt if I do say so myself. On the climb up to 8000 feet I snapped some pictures, saw a nice sunset. By the time I got to the leg that turned northwest it was nighttime. At 172NM it's the longest leg, estimated 58 minutes to complete. So I settle in for a while.

About 10 minutes in I stand up to go take a piss but I kept my headphones on. I remember thinking it would be some bullshyt if something happened while I got my dikk out. Right on cue I hear some funny shyt with the engine. When I get back to the computer I'm losing airspeed and I see "L ECU A FAIL" "L ECU B FAIL", I look at the engine load and it's zero and the engine is at like 1400 RPM - I just had a total engine failure :damn:. So I'm looking around and shyt tryna figure out what's what all the while the stall speed warning is going off. I cut the AP and it immediately goes left wing down, so I have my yoke cocked to the right like 30 degrees just to keep level. One hand on the yoke, other hand on the mouse trying to find the nearest airport on the GPS to touch down at. By this time it's pitch fukking black and I the first nearest airport, I can't even see the runway lights. I cycle to the next and it's a white dot 30 some odd miles in the distance. Through this whole ordeal I've lost about 4000 feet in altitude and I'm still cocked sideways like somebody's eye. I draw nearer and nearer to this airport, or what I think is it, and visually the shyt ain't matching up with what the GPS looked like. Closer and closer, about 2000 feet off the ground, 5 miles out and I finally get the radio to tune to their tower. I have a runway in sight and these MFs are like nah, use the other runway. I cross over the airport, get landing clearance, make my final turn on the verge of stall, and finally touch down :whew:.

I didn't figure out the true cause of the failure. Part of me thinks it was running the engines hard the whole time because I had temperature warnings several times. The G1000 NXi doesn't have the engine pages finished yet, so I could only see the coolant temps and not the cylinders themselves. The other part of me is clueless because if I lost the left engine due to temperature, I should have lost the right one at or around the same time. At any rate that first attempt was a metaphor for The Coli: cool at first until the fukkery comes to your doorstep, and then you gotta hope you come away ok .

I'll plan an intermediary trip from wherever I landed on through to Toronto and probably fly it as a sunrise flight.

Finished the flight on into Toronto. Handful a good pictures of the sunrise and some cloud surfing. I hope the next patch fixes the draw distance issue for PCs. They did good work to keep memory usage inside of 8GB, but now the sim doesn't take advantage of high RAM builds
