The Nintendo 64 sold 32 million. The PlayStation 102 million.
The Gamecube sold 21 million The PlayStation 2 sold 158 million.

It took Nintendo 2 console generations to recover from the cartridge mistake they made. The Xbox One was just last generation. When you make these catastrophic mistakes recovery takes time.

Their first mistake was the RROD, the GameCube didn’t fail because the cartridge mistake either, it failed because it was trying to keep up with sony and still continued to use an inferior disc format

Yeah and you can only do that through big consistent 1st party/exclusive games, theres no other way around it. Not services, not features, not goofy accessories and ads.

Just. Games.

Its just like tv, each streaming platform is defined by their exclusive content. Thats why HBO will always be GOAT, non-stop hits, every year.
That part alone has been plaguing the Xbox brand since last gen due to not having enough must have games (I'm not gonna say no games because there were games that made people get the Xbox One). There's a reason on why people were constantly voicing their reason on why they didn't buy the Xbox One, outside of the other issues that was already talked about.

Looking back, the Peter Moore era of the Xbox division damn near feels like a fluke, even though it wasn't because you would think by now Phil would've learned on what Peter did to get everyone to buy the OG Xbox and the 360.

I mean, Phil was there during that era as well so its not like he doesn’t know what works

economists now have a term for what phil is doing - they call it "quiet quitting"
